Two Years of Bubbles
Trust my WordPress Notification tab to remind me of the date even though I was thinking about it in the weeks leading up to it. Woot, two years of blogging. It feels like four at least… or maybe more! When I look back on this past year, I’ve found that my video supplements have been a nice addition as I remember my first upload to YouTube. I wasn’t sure what to record at first but I wanted to do something tried and...
Looking Back at 2012
When I first started blogging in Dec 2011, I was fascinated by the Annual Reports on a couple of WordPress Blogs. At the time, I could only imagine what mine would look like but after seeing the first report appear on a fellow bloggers site, I began to wonder if I’d actually receive one. So a few days after the new year and no email in sight, it appeared to be a little more complicated for a self-hosted site. I remember reading...
One Year of Bubbles!
How exciting! Today, it’s officially been a year since I created my blog which makes this my very first blogiversary. As some of you have mentioned before, it seems like I’ve been blogging for a lot longer. But don’t worry, I feel the same way too. As I look back on my past year, here are some of the highlights. In the first month, my readership reached its first peak due to a lovely post Beru wrote for the Welcome...
Milestone Marker
It’s hard to believe it’s been just over 10 weeks since my move to Safe Shark Hosting. Looking at my stats just now, I’ve just reached 30K views of all-time which I think is pretty incredible. It’s still another five months until my 1st Blogiversary – which I’ve been looking forward to since I started blogging back in Dec last year. My only regret is that it took me so long to start :P The pic above...
Blam and ReCAPTCHA
Lately I’ve experienced a huge influx of blog spam (otherwise known as Blam) predominately from facebook. Most likely because I recently created my Bubbles of Mischief facebook page for some cross-promotion but it’s become a lot more apparent overnight. I woke up to find 50 spam comments all from facebook.com/profile.php?id=10000340… or similar. I usually have Akismet running as well as three other anti-spam filters....
Taking Great Screenshots
I’ve had lots of lovely comments about my screenshots over the years, often trying to make each one unique although more often than not, I use some sort of image manipulation in them (usually to clone something out). If you look back over my library of ‘Silver Dragon‘ shots, you’ll see a discernible difference in the quality of shots. As I’ve mentioned before, around the time I started my screenshot...
Gravatars
For a while now, I’ve realised the importance of Gravatars and consistency in our login details. I have my own ‘Wall of Fame’ (under admin) where a good number of past commenters have a blank image appearing. I’m going to take this opportunity to go over a few things I’ve noticed and hopefully in the process, help some of you out. What is a Gravatar? Your Gravatar is a universal image that follows you...
