Cymre the Camel-Hoarder

Tonight I had a happy ending to my Mysterious Camel Figurine story. It took a total of 10 or so figurines before I found the right one. However, this was over many, many months.

As I quickly scanned the area in an attempt to figure out where this latest location was, I was pleased to find it was pretty easy to spot being a new coordinate for me. I decided to kill a couple of mobs immediately surrounding the figurine before I felt comfortable about testing the camel. It also makes a better shot when you’re not fighting several things, etc. Expect to be almost standing on top of it before it activates, either turning to dust or summoning a mini sandstorm for ~6 seconds which teleports you to a phased version of the steam pools in Feralas. Unfortunately, before I realised what was happening (partially due to feeling stunned for a couple of seconds) I was already being sucked up into the sandstorm so there’s no pic to show for it but this is what you can expect to find.

Falling down into the water after being teleported

A bunch of docile camels and an elite named Dormus the Camel-Hoarder with ~225k HP.

Since you’re now in a phased area of the Steam Pools, you’ll have around 15mins to kill Dormus or else he despawns. The last thing you need is to hunt another camel down, right?

Dormus the Camel Hoarder

Dormus really likes his camels, check out his arms.

Don’t worry though, he’s an easy fight.

Dormus Achievement

For an 85 Elite, he’s easily killed

Once defeated, he’ll drop the Reins of the Grey Riding Camel as well as earning you the feat of strength – Scourer of the Eternal Sands + Title: < Name > “the Camel-Hoarder”.

Scourer Achievement

I finally have something to show for my four rounds of mount farming. One down, three to go.

  1. Congratulations! I’ve had about 6 or 7 dusts so far. Every time I fly over armagedillo and he pops I get excited for a camel, but it’s not one. Where did you get your active camel spawn? Can you maybe go to where it was and screening the location? I fly over the 2 places I know they have given friends camels, but no joy for me yet :(

    • I found one active one right at Schnottz’s Landing and another between there and Ruins of Ammon. Pretty sure the spawns are completely random though. GL in your search!

  5. @Jadia – Thx, they are small buggers and can be hard to find even when you are actively looking for them

    @Euphyley – Hehe, thx. Wouldn’t be as good a pic without the title :P

    @Sephrenya – if you click on my link in the post you’ll see my guide on the figurines. There are a lot more spots for them but these are the ones I have personally seen. And Euphyley is right, there’s no guarantee that a previous spot will give you the right type of camel. GL.

    @Repgrind & @Navimie – Thx :)

    @Ancient – it did indeed :D
