Wild Pets – 5.1 Complete

I was excited to get the last three wild pets I needed from the 5.1 push. The hardest four by far were the following:

I found this one just outside Karazhan although it did take a couple of trips to Deadwind Pass to find just one specimen.

Next came several trips to the Toxic Airfield, just outside Gnomeregan on several toons and servers. I had read that they could spawn inside where the gnome starting area is but on the day after the patch, there were no battle pets at all down there. By chance I spotted this one right by the sludge pools with three other people roaming the area.

This morning I also managed to find an Infinite Whelpling at the entrance to the Caverns of Time (around where Occulus the Corrupted spawns). This looks like a miniature version of the rare.

I was especially relieved to find this little guy on the hill behind Everlook. All the mechanicals look great, don’t you think?

In other news, I managed to get my first Flawless Beast Battle-Stone but I have yet to decide who to use it on. The Pandaren Spirit Tamer dailies are currently bugged right now meaning you can only do them once and that’s it. Blizzard have stated that they are looking into the issue.

I also managed to get THREE of the classic raid pet drops today with Coolidge’s help <3

Oh and I finally cracked the 15K mark on my achievements. :D

Northrend Safari

Lately, I’ve been spending quite a bit of time in Northrend. Mainly to collect some of the pets I was missing and to defeat the Master Tamers for Northrend. In fact, I had a go at the Grand Master today but I didn’t have much luck with him. I should have it in the next day or two hopefully so I can write up the post for Cataclysm.

Today it finally snowed in Storm Peaks giving me a chance at getting the last pet I needed – the Arctic Fox Kit. I’d also like to go back and get a better quality Scourged Whelping since I’ve only seen one on live. At least it’s close to the Grand Master so it won’t be much of a detour.

I currently have three level 25 pets and even tried a few of the PVP battles the other day. Although I plan on levelling up a few of my other pets before I try it again. I’m loving all the Pandarian backdrops being used in the queued battles though and I don’t think I’ve seen the same one yet. At least I didn’t die when I started the match like in my first battle in the beta but when I came out of one a few nights ago, the Lost treasure I was camping had finally spawned so it worked out well :)

At the moment the Baby Ape and Jade Oozeling are still missing from my collection though.

Wild Pets – Special Conditions

There are a number of wild pets which are seasonal, weather or time-dependant, so if you’re looking to add them all to your collection, this should help.

These are all the ones listed under the Pet Journal which specify the conditions needed to spawn.

The Storm Peaks – snowing

Jaguero Isle, The Cape of Stranglethorn – raining

The Scarab Wall and The Scarab Dais, Silithus – Summer

After capturing one on the beta, I was excited about finally adding one of these to my collection as it’s the last one many of us need for our Kalimdor Safari achievements. Many speculated that the pet would start appearing after Mar 20 – the end of Winter (for fishing up a Winter Squid) but it seemed odd that Summer would come straight after Winter.

In response to my tweet this morning (21 Mar 2013), Mumper confirmed that the Qiraji Guardling will not appear in-game for another few months.
