There are certain pieces which inspire me to create a set around a particular piece, like the Cover of the Keepers. I envied leatherwearers who could wear this item back when we were raiding Ulduar. It would have been the prefect addition to the Stargazer kit I was planning to create but with certain key slots missing, I never really tried to design one… until now.
As with other costumes, like my final Cymre Jones outfit, I’ve designed my dream kit based on pieces which exist in-game right now. Sadly, the shoulders are mail and have quite a bulky frame but they are still the closest piece I’ve found to get my desired look. Ideally, the pant slot should be completely invisible (since it detracts from the look) but for a complete set, it’s needed.
Ulduar is such a fascinating place for me. I can’t help taking pictures or videos whenever I’m struck by its wondrous design. Even its titles are perfect for complementing this theme. I’d love to go back and complete Herald of the Titans but things don’t always go according to plan.
Unfortunately, I’ve only seen the dagger drop once but I’m really hoping to own it one day, as well as the off-hand which I have in the other colour palette. Now add your Celestial Steed and Celestial Dragon to the mix and you have a scene that’s quite out of this world.
After my trip into Ulduar this week and picking up the gloves from my Sanctification Regalia set, I decided to go through my bank and void storage just to see how close I was to completing any of the Ulduar sets. Turns out I’m only missing the shoulders from my yellow set on 25 while I’ve actually completed the recoloured version of my mauve coloured Sanctification Garb. This made me look at how many sets I’d like to work on including the Kirin Tor recoloured version especially when the shoulders remind me slightly of the shaman shoulders from SoO.
In other news, I’ve been pretty busy over the last few days, levelling up my engineering while my pali provided most of the ore I needed. Yesterday I even made some notes (in case I ever decide to level a fourth engineer) and told myself I would only use my easy 5pts from the Darkmoon Faire when I was stuck on a certain material.
Working on new profession has given me a pretty well needed reprieve from all my time on a certain Isle. Unfortunately, there’s nothing new to report on that front but in the meantime, there are still some toys I’d love to finally make for my priest.
I also thought these mecha-spiders from Ulduar would make a cool engineering mount. Well, 20pts to go and I’ll be ready to make my goggles and other toys.
When Cool decided to collect his Tier 8 set from ULD10, I was happy to help although killing the bosses on normal wasn’t much of a challenge so by the time we reached Kologarn, I suggested we try some achievements.
While we focussed on Kologarn’s torso for one achievement, I assumed we’d need to come back for the other so I was a little surprised to get both.
Getting Cold in Here was the only one I didn’t have for Hodir. I normally jump up and down for this one on 25 (or run around) but it was easier than I thought and I didn’t have to dispel once.
Cool suggested we try Lumberjacked first since you don’t need to be in combat with Freya. We just cleared the room before Cool kited two of the Elders to a central spot while I body pulled the third.
Deforestation requires Freya to summon two sets of adds so it was just a matter of time before we had the six we needed.
Thorim was the only fight we did on heroic, so Who Needs Bloodlust? proved quite difficult. I managed to MC a Warbringer but I kept getting hit or interrupted before I could buff myself. Shadowdodger is another one we’ll have to try again.
Alone in the Darkness was easy (even with no keepers) meaning we were able to collect the three easier ones automatically – although I’m not entirely sure which ones we had before today.
I don’t normally step inside Yogg’s mind but it appears I’ve done it once before (at least on 10) so I’ll be able to complete In His House He Waits Dreaming very soon. Sadly, Cool only managed to collect one of the pali pieces he needed but there’s always next week. I did manage to get my shoulders though.
After weeks of farming the Throne of Thunder raid, my off-hand finally dropped from the Iron Qon. I had been using a 516 staff that came from my first heroic scenario bag but I decided to use that for my shadow weapon instead. The off-hand I had at the time left a lot to be desired so going from a 476 to a 502 item was a welcome change. I also managed to get Torall, Rod of the Shattered Throne last week so it made a nice set.
Then after my experience with the Celestial Blessings scenario a week ago, I decided to go into the raid as Disc and was pleased to see myself getting back into the swing of things. For a while I was switching my focus between haste, mastery and crit because I couldn’t quite find what was right for me. As I said before, I’ve been playing a lot more shadow these days but after today, I’m feeling a bit better about the state of things.
Straight after the raid, we headed over to Ulduar with one fragment drop from FL. Cat Lady also dropped the mace I’ve been eyeing so it turned out to be a pretty special day.
Looking forward to seeing what tomorrow brings.
A couple of days ago I told you about my trip into Ulduar as a furry beast. This time, it was back to normal with a bit of a different agenda. Since we didn’t need anything from Ignis or Razorscale we skipped them, working our way a little bit further than last time.
Once again here’s a quick pictorial of our kills.
As we waited for Auriaya to come back around, I took the opportunity to take a few pics and going back to Disc for the fight.
I spy with my little eye…
Heading towards Hodir, I had a brief incident with a pack of worms proving one snow mound can still be detrimental to one’s health. Cool managed to join me afterwards and made quick work of them. I initially tried Hodir as Disc but we managed to hit his enrage timer so I ended up going shadow again which resulted in his demise.
We ended the raid with a new mace for myself and a shield for Cool.
A little bit later, I headed over to Kara to try and farm my belt again (since I traded it in for a free slot a while ago).
While we waited for the Big Bad Wolf, I took a shot of our new toys.
Unfortunately, no luck with the belt today so I guess I’ll be back next week.
