Dread Pirate Westley
Since the Oscars coincide with Matty’s Birthday this year, she’s decided to host a transmog contest to celebrate with a movie-themed extravaganza.
Submit three mog outfits, (Mogit is fine) of three characters from one of your favorite movies, or from one of the award nominees this year. This is not their Oscar or red carpet attire, but the costumes in the films.
I admit I’ve been meaning to feature some of these characters for a long time now so I had a lot of fun putting these together. As one of my all-time favourite movies, The Princess Bride was an obvious choice but with so many characters to choose from, I had to start with my favourite couple.
Even though she goes through several costumes during the movie, this is the one she’s in a lot. Whether she’s blindfolded, swimming with eels or in the Fire Swamp with Westley. I even did some “movie research” to see what shoes she wears. It’s a hard life sometimes…
If you look closely, she’s still wearing the blindfold, but more as a headpiece.
Dark Silk Shirt
Red Linen Robe
Imperial Red Boots
Dread Pirate Westley
Darkguard Face Mask
Black Silk Vest
Black Swashbuckler’s Shirt
Blackened Defias Belt (or Furious Gladiator’s Cord of Dominance as an alternative)
Bloodmail Legguards (or Leggings of the Master Conjurer as an alternative)
Dazzling Mithril Rapier
(Sumprush rodent not included)
The main reason I chose a human for Inigo was the hair and moustache but he’s a lot more bulkier than Inigo in the movie. I’m still not convinced the Foreman Vest is farmable any more, although Blizzard have stated that it’s still in the game.
Formal White Shirt
Brown Linen Pants
While I’m on the subject of The Princess Bride, check out these art cards by Kevinbolk which are absolutely fantastic. He has the whole set on his DeviantART page :)
For those who haven’t seen the movie, /GASP! Here’s the trailer:
One year ago, I entered my very first costume contest at Kirina’s Closet. Since then, I’ve participated in a lot of transmog contests including Mog Madness and the Mogolympics. I’ve also been really proud of my own Super Sunday series as well as my other offerings like my Fairy Tales and Career Women posts.
This time I submitted two of my favourite Super Sunday costumes.
I’m happy to announce that I was one of the runners up for Kirina’s last Hallow’s End Costume Contest.
My prizes were a set of three loot cards:
So thx again Kirina for organising these last four contests (even though I only saw and participated in the last two). It was fun to see all the entries :)
Head: First Mate Hat
This week as a change of pace, WoW Insider decided to come up with their own transmog contest. I didn’t even know about this until I saw a post from Töki so I sent in my entry based around one of my old tranmog designs just before the deadline was due.
Here’s what we were given:
To create a transmogrification outfit of your own that builds on or complements a single piece of gear (armor or weapon) that you like. Submit your outfit by Aug. 20 at 11:59 p.m. EDT and you’ll have the chance to win fabulous prizes and have your outfit featured here on WoW Insider.
Head: First Mate Hat
Shoulder: Mantle of Prophecy
Chest: Cindercloth Vest
Waist: Spellfire Belt
Hands: Infernoweave Gloves
Legs: Crimson Silk Pantaloons
Feet: Infernoweave Boots
Weapon: Siphoning Dagger
Off-Hand: Petrified Camel Haunch
As I’ve mentioned before, this Shadow Pirate design was my Shadow set for a while but for the purposes of this contest, I’ve chosen the First Mate Hat as the feature piece.
It just so happened that I was helping Beldarian in Uldum one night when I spotted a chest inside one of the ruins. Opening it, I found the Petrified Camel Haunch which I got a real kick out of (when previewing the item). Little did I know it would be used in my pirate transmog sometime later. This also happened to be my back-up transmog for the Dath’remar fashion show in April. You can see me doing a quick switcheroo with the outfit if you look through their stream from the night.
The prizes will be loot card codes from the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game.
But in the words of Dawn Moore, may the best transmog win!
Now it’s back to waiting for the next Mogolympics results… as well as this contest.
