It’s a little ironic that the one pet I featured the most (during the beta) ended up being the one I’ve tamed last. I first wrote about the Pandarian Hunter Pets which WoW Insider were kind enough to link to on twitter. Over the course of the beta, the quilen model went through a few remodelling changes which were illustrated in my Evolution of the Quilen post.

Portent may be found in several different colours, much like Madexx in Uldum. The first one I found was the blue version which looks very striking. I picked up his Dusty Tracks towards the end of his path just before Bin-Jai the Butcher in the western part of the Vale of Endless Blossoms. For his complete track, you can follow Euphy’s post.

Another for the collection

A little bit later, I was able to track the green version around the same spot.

Here are the last two colours for comparison.

Portent - purple

By the way, as part of Cyber Monday Deals Week at Amazon you can now buy the Collector’s Boxed Edition for Mists of Pandaria at half price! So if you haven’t splurged yet, what better time to?

Rockhide the Immovable

Rockhide the Immovable

This basilisk may be found in Townlong Steppes once you pick up his trail of Worn Tracks. I managed to spot the first one around the middle of the zone but lost him as he came out of the Lower Sumprushes so I loaded up Euphy’s video for his exact path. By the time I found him, he was coming back the other way heading up towards Farwatch Overlook.

Look at that! I kind of match him although I have a lot of work to do for gear. It’s much better than last week’s look though. Just don’t focus too long on that belt. I know I’m won’t…

After my last five unique tames, I was up for tracking Hexapos since I recently reached 90 on my hunter. So I headed over to Dread Wastes to see if I could find his Mysterious Tracks. Using a map supplied by Sneaky Sams, I managed to track him on the southern most part of his path above the Briny Muck.

Currently his track still runs backwards but this may change in 5.1.

Remember that Water Striders are exotic creatures so you’ll have to be specced BM to tame it.

The only bad thing was having to abandon another pet from my stable of rares =/

I was on such a roll last night that I headed over to Krasarang for a chance at Bloodtooth. As soon as I reached Anglers Wharf I picked up the first footprint but I had no pet that I wanted to abandon so I reluctantly hearthed back to the city to change out one of my active pets.

Muddy Tracks

I used the map that Sneaky Sams had which worked out well picking him up on the big island off Nayeli Lagoon.

I actually match my pet now :P

After taming Stompy, I decided to see if I could track Glimmer in the Jade Forest. I think the Water Stiders are quite amusing creatures including the special animation of the Anglers mount :P

Flooded Tracks

Finding his track wasn’t too hard. I managed to locate a set of three or so prints towards the end of his path (around Camp Gormal) but didn’t manage to locate him. So I watched Euphy’s pathing video in an attempt to pick up his trail again. It took a while but I managed to find some more tracks almost at the other end of the path. Unfortunately, I still couldn’t pick him up in my flare.

One of the hints on WoWHead suggested waiting by the river and then shooting your flare continuously since he’s bound to run through it eventually. I didn’t want to do this because when he crosses the river towards Fox Grove, he phases out until he walks back up through the Arboretum.

He also seemed to walk quicker than the other trackable tames so by the time I thought I might have caught up with him toward the river, I figured I’d wait by the huge tree trunk outside the Temple of the Jade Serpent wall (where he phases back in) and waited. Sure enough, he did just that and I tamed him with little effort.

Glimmer tame

Glimmer also has some backward leading tracks but doesn’t aggro when you begin the taming process.

I must say that his water walking ability is pretty handy too :)
