I’ve been travelling a lot between ZG, Grom’gol, Loch Modan, Scholo and the Dark Portal lately. So much so, I’ve been getting a lot of new Silver Dragon sightings. There are others I’ve collected over the past few months but they sit in a folder waiting to be edited and uploaded. Since so many were added post-Cata, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to add them into my current zone collections but here’s what I’ve been seeing lately.
I was particularly happy to see this rare since he’s been missing from my Northern Stranglethorn post for over a year.
These next three in Western Plaguelands are in close proximity to each other although I wasn’t expecting to see a huge parasite in the lake around Scholo. Eww.
One of the new exotic pets found in Burning Steppes.
Both of these beasts are native to Arathi Highlands although Chops may be found along the zone border.
Now the rare I’d like to see the most is Doctor Theolen Krastinov in Scholo. I’ve been checking every day but still no luck. I’ll just add that to the list with the Spineclaw drop, the mace from Garrosh, a transformation (finally), and the mechbuilder overalls which Cool was kind enough to draw in chibi/Astroboy form.
With a list like that, surely my unlucky streak has to break soon.
For a small zone, it’s quite impressive to see so many points of interest for anyone passing through the area. In fact, it’s the breadcrumb quest which leads you from the Valley of Four Winds and into Kun-Lai Summit, particularly if you’re 87.
Apart from a couple of local quests, you’ll find the current location of Wrathion in this expansion as well as the Terrace of Endless Spring raid. For a couple of XP boosts, don’t forget to loot the Forgotten Lockbox on the second floor of the Tavern in the Mists and the The Hammer of Folly – part of the Riches of Pandaria achievement.
Behind the inn, you’ll see a number of familiar faces, including some of the combatants you encounter at the Temple of the White Tiger.
Then if you head under the Inn, you’ll find an interesting NPC who is not without some perks of his own.
But if you’re a fan of the BMAH, you might even run into a rare named Willy Wilder – a play on Willy Wonka and Gene Wilder which fans of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will instantly recognise. Not surprising when his abilities are Violets and Blueberries and Stuffed. He appears to spawn just outside the BMAH only to walk inside to bid on a Blood-Soaked Invitation which he then wins.

Excitedly, he then runs outside saying:
YES! Finally! I won a Brawler’s Guild invite! Nobody can stop me now!
I won a Brawler’s Guild invitation just now! I’ll surely be rank 8 by tonight! I sure hope I don’t lose my ticket before I get there.
Everyone look! I won a Brawler’s Guild invite! I can’t wait to try it out!
…so it’s not surprising that he is guaranteed to drop a Blood-Soaked Invitation when killed.
I guess I wasn’t ready to be a brawler.
Apparently, if you choose not to kill him, he runs all the way down the Path of a Hundred Steps and promptly despawns at the bottom.
Question of the Day: What is the craziest/most expensive thing you’ve bought from the BMAH to date?
There are eleven new rares on the Isle of Thunder but only ten are needed for Champions of Lei Shen. They can all drop a Shan’ze Ritual Stone and a the Key to the Palace of Lei Shen (which are lootable once a week) as well as the Sealed Tome of the Lost Legion for warlocks – lootable by the first warlock to pick it up. However, each rare is guaranteed to drop a Tome of Valor making it that much easier to be capped for the week.

Once upon a time, Hammerspine used to be a level 12 rare trogg located in Gol’Bolar Quarry Mine in Dun Morogh. He is said to be on a 1.5-2.5 hour respawn timer.
The first time I remember killing him with the shot above, I just happened to catch him saying his infamous phrase. Looking back at all my rare shots, this has got to be one of my more interesting ones.
On a trip to see my old nemesis Gibblewilt, I decided to see if I could get another shot with my main. It didn’t take long before he said what I was hoping for.
It appears that he only has a couple of lines to his repertoire. Either that or he has a pretty stubborn streak, as he only managed to blurt out
”It’s time to bash!”
around 10 times or so before he said the magic words. Sheesh! The things you go through just to get a good shot :P
I’d seen this rare around early in the expansion, watching a group of Alliance try and take this massive beast down with a group of about 8 at the time. They had a lot of trouble with his abilities. Today I managed to spot this rare again with Coolidge on my back (literally) and I knew it would be a feat to kill him as a duo. Having experienced his abilities first hand we sent a few calls out gaining a DPS from the Guild to help. Being Christmas Day, attendance online was pretty sketchy. Our little band of three soon became four and with a couple more attempts we knew we needed 1 more to take him down. Before we knew it word had spread around and we had a small raid of seven.
Julak-Doom has three abilities:
- Black Breath – which creates a puddle of dark ooze that deals Shadow damage to all enemies in the area and has a 60yd range.
- Dark whispers – invade the target’s mind, forcing them to do the bidding of Julak-Doom. Removed when damaged below 90% health.
- Massive Shockwave – has an unlimited range and stomps the ground, emitting a massive shockwave that deals Physical damage to targets in a cone in front of the caster and knocks them down.
That’s where the extra numbers are needed. It was hard enough when one of us was MC’ed but in a group of three, two will get MC’ed instead. So with our last attempt with seven, the fight proved to be a non-issue and was over in ~4 minutes.
Four down, one group rare to go. Xariona, I’m coming for you next.
Vitreous Beak of Julak-Doom – Caster dagger
Morrie’s Waywalker Wrap – BOE leather chest piece
