Steamwheedle Preservation Society

Gazmolf Futzwangler is in Nagrand recruiting members for the Steamwheedle Preservation Society , the archaeological branch of the Steamwheedle Cartel. As he explains:

We’re here to collect all of the artifacts, relics, antiquities and oddities that Nagrand has to offer! Currently, we’re hiring surveyors, excavators, adventurers… you name it! If you’re interested in getting your hands dirty, talk to Gazmolf Futzwangler over at Stonecrag Gorge. He’s the goblin in charge of this expedition!

Gaining Reputation

After completing a couple of simple quests in Stonecrag Gorge, head to Broken Precipice in the north of the zone. Besides finding Grebin Fastfizzle in a bit of a predicament and one of the most amusing things I’ve seen on the beta so far (thanks Cool), be sure to loot any chests in the area. Each will contain a Highmaul Relic and a variable number of Gorian Artifact Fragments. A number of mobs may also be farmed for Highmaul Relics on the northern side of the river.

Both may be handed into Sallee Silvercamp in the Ruins of Na’gwa for some Steamwheedle Preservation Society rep.

Each item rewards a variable amount of reputation:

Seek out the following rare elites for an additional 500 rep after handing in their prized drops to Gazmolf Futzwangler at the Ruins of Na’gwa.

These drops are BoA but due to the way rare elites are set up in WoD, you’ll only be able to loot the item once per toon. A rare Garrison mission also rewards a Highmaul Relic.

Reputation Rewards

There are two quartermasters located in the Ashran outpost as well as Kwilax Fuseshiv in Nagrand.

Unfortunately, hand-ins were a little buggy since my 7x Highmaul Relics and 58x Gorian Artifact Fragments both counted as one hand-in each.

For those wondering if their Bloodsail Admiral status will affect this rep grind, Jonathan LeCraft confirmed it won’t be an issue.

On a side note, I happened to find another member of the archaeology crew who’d crash landed inside Castaway Cave. I have no idea how long he’s been hidden behind a waterfall, but it must have been a while as he kept calling for his companion Wibson. In the end, it wasn’t enough to save him.

Explorer-Nozzand I just love how much of a role archaeology is playing in this expansion from jumping puzzles (as a supplement to dig sites) to a certain pet trainer I’ll be able to battle. Hopefully, I can start levelling up the profession very soon.

Frenzyheart vs Oracles

It might have been a while ago since you did your rep grind for either the Frenzyheart Tribe or The Oracles. You might have even changed alliances for Mercenary of Sholazar or the rewards. I actually did both for those reasons, changing from Oracles to Frenzyheart once all the rewards I wanted were in my possession.

Oracles
Being a pet and mount collector, I was anxious to start my rep grind with The Oracles. Upon revered reputation you can start buying the Mysterious Egg which turns into a Cracked Egg after three days (real time). This egg has a chance to contain one of four companions, a very rare Green Proto-Drake or some Aged Yolk. Bad luck if you get the Aged Yolk though as you’ll have to wait another three days for another egg to hatch. Older players could rejoice as it used to be a seven day wait!

Frenzyheart
Once again at revered reputation, you can start buying the Disgusting Jar which also needs a few days to ferment and has a rare chance to give you another costume item. This is not a trinket so you can use it as long as it’s in your bag, lasts 5mins and has a 30min CD.

Frenzyheart Brew: Brings out the Wolvar in you!

So whatever your preference, there’s sure to be something for everyone… provided you have the patience for the rep grind and three day wait each time.
