Mog Madness – Round Five

Can you believe it? I made it to the final round!

A few days ago, I found out that I had won the Great Blog Noblegarden Egg Hunt. Not only that but I had come second in the Fourth Round of Mog Madness.

JD sure picked an interesting theme for the final round; although he says he only just realised the significance of the challenge name with this final theme :P

Mog Madness Finals:

  • When: April 16th – April 20th (judging results revealed April 22nd)
  • Who: Missescake, Cymre, Reluctant Raider, Kamalia, Tolbi.
  • How: Send an e-mail with your screenshot(s) to arcanewordsmith@gmail.com or post your entry on the Mog Madness page of Amateur Azerothian, Tome of the Ancients, or Effraeti’s RP.
  • Mog Requirement: For the finals, contestants must create an “Anti-Paladin of the Old God.”  To elaborate, your outfit can include anything for a Paladin or Death Knight.  You must also choose whether your entry is an Anti-Paladin for C’thun or for Yogg-Saron (Judge’s tip…avoid looking anything like Twilight Cultists).

Talk about some stiff competition. The other four finalists have offered some very consistent mogging skills up until now. But we’ll have to see who rises above the rest in this epic final round. It took a while before I had decided upon a theme for this challenge. Should I go with C’thun in AQ which offers some very cool things for a more bug-like look or Yogg in Ulduar who has some of the most mog-worthy items in the game?

After a lot of playing around with various colours and hero pieces, I went with the Anti-Paladin look for C’thun.

As the final boss in the Temple of Ahn’Qiraj. C’Thun was one of the five Old Gods, stripped of his full power by warring Titans. He fell to Azeroth, settling in the arid desert of Silithus, and slowly manipulated the native Silithid race into an army of his own image, the Qiraji. The great fortress city of Ahn’Qiraj was created to house their growing armies and prepare for the coming of C’Thun.

Throughout Ahn’Qiraj, you can periodically hear the whisperings of the Old God:

Death is close…
You are already dead.
Your courage will fail.
Your friends will abandon you.
You will betray your friends.
You will die.
You are weak.
Your heart will explode.

Although, my Paladin must have done something right as she received the Blessing of the Old God.

Head: Replica Soulforge Helm
Shoulder: Gladiator’s Lamellar Shoulders
Chest: Breastplate of Many Graces
Waist: Ruthless Gladiator’s Girdle of Cruelty
Legs: Casssock of the Loyal
Hands: Gauntlets of Annihilation
Feet: Vortex Walking Boots
Main Hand: Dark Edge of Insanity

The great thing about this weapon is that it has a blinking animation. It’s quite freaky :)

Oh, and to remind you just how epic this boss was back then, here’s a video:

Alternate Options
Feet: Acherus Knight’s Greaves

I’m a big fan of these shoes, but a certain Pali I know said that plate wearers are tough and don’t go around showing their toes. What can I say? I’m a cloth wearer at heart :P

I had so many combinations rolling around that I just couldn’t decide which one I wanted to use until the final day. So I’ll do a few posts later to showcase my other outfits.

Good luck to the other four finalists :)

Mog Madness – Round Four

OK, I thought the last round was hard. I haven’t had much experience with Shaman gear but I managed to come third in the last round, so I can’t be doing that badly :)

Mog Madness Round Four:

  • When: April 9th – 13th (judging results revealed April 15th)
  • Who: Our Top 10.
  • How: Send an e-mail with your screenshots (in-game, MogIt, ModelViewer, etc) to arcanewordsmith@gmail.com or post your entry here, Effy’s RP, or Tome of the Ancient.
  • Mog Requirement: You’ll be happy to know it’s not mail.  Well, it can be if that’s what you’d like to use.  Honestly, it’s entirely up to you what type of armor you go with (just remember to maintain the same type throughout) as you match up with either Tabard of the Illidari. So again, any armor type is allowed but you cannot use robes/skirts.  We want to see the full tabard.

I’ve always loved the Blood Queen in ICC. She’s probably my favourite looking boss in the place. Although getting her achievement was a bit of a pain as healers normally have the lowest priority for getting bitten. If I had a warlock I’d probably be sporting this look. But for now, I’ve used Cymre as the model.

Head: Cowl of Malefic Repose
Shoulder: Shoulders of Ruinous Senility
Chest: Witch Doctor’s Beads
Tabard: Green Trophy Tabard of the Illidari
Waist: Cord of the Patronizing Practitioner
Legs: Genavie’s Leggings
Hands: Sister’s Handshrouds
Feet: Boots of the Infernal Coven
Main Hand: Staff of Beasts

Mog Madness – Round Three

I was surprised to find that I had ranked 4th in the last round for Mog Madness. The last set of results were so varied, I was impressed with everyone’s creativity. I was initially afraid that creating one’s outfit based around the same weapon would result in a lot of similar results. I’m so glad they weren’t.

Mog Madness Round Three:

  • When: April 2nd – 6th (judging results revealed April 8th)
  • Who: Our Final 15.
  • How: Send an e-mail with your screenshot(s) to arcanewordsmith@gmail.com or post your entry here, Effy’s RP, or Tome of the Ancient.
  • Mog Requirement: As I’ve submitted a “what I would have entered” each round, this round is no different as that picture contains the requirement for Round Three.  Yes, unfortunately we’ve asking you to get Mail creative again as you set out to build around: The Wavemender’s Mantle

Head: Spiritwalker’s Faceguard
Shoulder: The Wavemender’s Mantle
Chest: Sanctified Frost Witch’s Tunic
Waist: Cord of Dragon Sinew
Legs: Kilt of Raging Elements
Hands: Spiritwalker’s Gloves
Feet: Vicious Gladiator’s sabatons
Main Hand: Axe of the Sen’jin Protector
Off Hand:
Spirit of Resolve

I must admit, I had a lot of trouble coming up with an outfit I liked. In fact, I came up with four variations, including colour combinations. I’ve added one of the variations that I didn’t end up using for fun.

Alternate Options
Hands:
Crystalhide Handwraps
Main Hand: Claws of Agony
Off-Hand: Claws of Torment

Mog Madness – Round Two

After successfully making it to Round Two of Mog Madness, I was interested to see what the next round entailed.

Mog Madnesss Round Two:

  • When: March 26th – March 30th (judging results revealed April 1st)
  • Who: Our remaining 20 participants.
  • How: Send an e-mail with your screenshot(s) to arcanewordsmith@gmail.com or post your entry on the Round Two Mog Madness page of Amateur Azerothian, Tome of the Ancients, or Effraeti’s RP.
  • Mog Requirement: The first round we gave Priests, Warlocks, and Mages our love.  Now, we’re moving on to the wild.  The classes are limited to either a Hunter or a Druid and your outfit must be based on using either  Marrowstrike or Glaive of the Pit (same skin).

Sadly, I didn’t have either of these items so I’ve had to use some creative sources outside of the game. At first I tried using Transmogger but I wasn’t able to use the shirt I wanted so I ended up using WoWHead instead. As such, I used a few backgrounds for comparison.

I decided to use the deep blue from the weapon to base the colour of the whole outfit and used the gold from the polearm to tie in the chest, belt and shoulders. The goggles I used just for their ‘cool’ factor. ;P

Head: Mechanized Snow Goggles
Shoulder: Conqueror’s Scourgestalker Spaulders
Shirt: Master Builder’s Shirt
Chest: Golden Links of Restoration
Waist: Bloodthirsty Gladiator’s Links of Accuracy
Legs: Frozen Forest Kilt
Hands: Conqueror’s Scourgestalker Handguards
Feet: Star-Strider Boots
Weapon Marrowstrike

If you’d like to find out more about this great Mog Contest, go to Amateur Azerothian, Tome of the Ancients, or Effraeti’s RP to follow the five rounds. I’m very happy to announce that I made the top five! Woot!

Alanna’s Mix

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve transmogged my gear since 4.3 went live. Since a few of my costumes have prompted a couple of posts, take Karegina and Mataoka as examples. I thought I’d include some of my most recent outfits. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, that appears to be true.  So here’s my second post in my next series of ‘Mog Me’ posts involving my past transmog sets.

Helm: Heroes’ Crown of Faith
Shoulder: Vindicator Shoulderpads
Chest: Alanna’s Embrace
Waist: Ruthless Gladiator’s Cord of Accuracy
Hands: Handwraps of the Incarnate
Feet: Barbaric Cloth Boots
Weapon: Staff of Immaculate Recovery

Alternate Options
Hands: Soulcloth Gloves
Feet: Footwraps of the Oracle

I’ve also entered this costume in Round One of the Mog Madness contest.  If you’d like to see what Round One involved:

Mog Madness Round One:

  • When: March 12th – March 23rd (judging results revealed March 25th)
  • Who: Open to anyone who wishes to enter.
  • How: Send an e-mail with your screenshot(s) to arcanewordsmith@gmail.com or post your entry on the Mog Madness page of Amateur Azerothian, Tome of the Ancients, or Effraeti’s RP.
  • Mog Requirement: The first round of Mog Madness merely requires a cloth outfit.  That means Mages, Warlocks, and Priests are all open season for your submissions (though no using class-specific gear outside of the class you choose to use -so no Mages in something like this).

I admit when looking through the entries, a couple looked similar to sets I’ve created before. The good news is I made the Top 20 which means I go into Round Two.
