I guess you could say this was my version of Sliders (I used to love that show, until they changed the main actor). But yes folks, if this were some parallel universe, Cool and I could have been upright cows.
In the last week of March, Cool and I did something drastic during our really shitty time in the game. As I stated earlier in the week, amidst our Guild and toon name changes, we also did some race changes. It wasn’t cheap but that the price we paid for the privacy we desperately needed. We didn’t do a lot on live but since Cool knows how much I love Ulduar, we decided to try some ULD10 since there was no way in Hell we could have killed past the first boss on ULD25.
So here’s a photo diary of our short time as cows – mostly of our kill shots in ULD.
As you can see, the first attempt didn’t go so well :P
I was having a bit of a lag issue so the cats were getting a bit much but once I changed back to Disc it was a lot better. If you look closely, you’ll notice the blue glow of my shoulders changes to my better geared Disc set, but the weapons are a bit of a giveaway too. I had forgotten what happened at the time but after seeing the pics, Cool was there to remind me.
All-in-all it turned out to be a productive afternoon and best of all I FINALLY managed to get my Igniter Rod! :D
Now to go back in there for all the transmog gear I’ve been coveting, get the rest of the achievements done and fragments on 25 for Val’anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings. I still have a way to go but I’m still determined to do it… let me know if any of you guys are up for it too sometime.
Trying to farm Fragments for a Legendary is a little like the highs and lows of a roller coaster. Sometimes you can feel lucky when you get three in a run, or feel like you don’t have much luck at all when you kill eight bosses and you don’t get any. When Ulduar was current, I didn’t have the opportunity to do any 25 raids back then so when I happened to do a PUG for our weekly raid, a fragment happened to drop which I won. One of the other raiders laughed and said, now all you need is to get the other 29. At the time I didn’t care as it was the beginning of something I hoped to finish one day, some way.
When Coolidge and I made the change to Dath’remar, we joined an old Guild of mine. On occasion we would do the older raids which I didn’t mind as we didn’t have any of the 25 achievements at the time. I also hoped to add to my fragment collection until I realised that they automatically went to a specific person in the raid. So over time, my hope for the Legendary dissolved into the nether for something I thought would never eventuate.
Late last year though I did manage to get a few fragments from a run I went on after this particular person managed to get all of theirs. At the time I was ecstatic when they started dropping even though they were already half way through the raid; but then again it also meant I was a few closer to my end objective.
Being in a small Guild it’s often hard to get people together when the majority of people get on when it’s raid weekend. This is more of a problem when there are multiple raiders in the Guild who only raid on an alt with us. Although I don’t mind if they are willing to spend as much effort on that toon as they are with their other characters.
Today I managed to go in again with Coolidge and Azadelta, killing the first 3 bosses on 25. Sadly there were no fragments again. However, both have told me that we will keep going in there until we get it done which means to world to me. I can only hope that we get the legendary completed sooner rather than later so I don’t have to keep dragging people through it.
As it stands now we are 2 out of 3 of the legendaries for A Legendary Collection, soon to be 3 when Aza gets his Guild rep up there. My only hope is that my Val’anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings will be up there for the The Ultimate Collection Guild achievement.
I know we can do it, it’s just a matter of time.
