Nozdormu the Timeless is a slim and sinuous bronze dragon, with scales of a metallic golden-brown color. He can arrange sand to conform to his body, cementing into one definite form. His eyes are made from gemstones, the color of the sun. He moves with a speed and grace belied by his monstrous form. Curiously, his position seems to change from moment to moment, as though its location in space were constantly in flux.
Unto you is charged the great task of keeping the purity of time. Know that there is only one true timeline, though there are those who would have it otherwise. You must protect it. Without the truth of time as it is meant to unfold, more will be lost than you can possibly imagine. The fabric of reality will unravel. It is a heavy task–the base of all tasks of this world, for nothing can transpire without time.
- Blessing of the Bronze Aspect by Aman’Thul
Nozdormu is tasked with ensuring that the flow of time occurs normally, without interruption, and that events happen as they are fated. To accomplish this mission, Nozdormu knows much about the nature of time. He uses his abilities and powers to prevent others from discovering these same secrets. Should a sorcerer or other mortal being begin to delve too deeply into magic that alters or affects time, Nozdormu always steps in to remove the threat, one way or another. Nozdormu is closely associated with time itself and is the very soul of patience. He has few worshippers, save perhaps among the night elves who wish to become once again timeless themselves. He pays no attention to those who venerate him, neither accepting nor disapproving of their efforts. Nozdormu is usually found in the Caverns of Time, a closely guarded complex located deep in the Tanaris Desert. Those who venture there and get past the bronze dragon sentinels rarely emerge unchanged. Some age, or become so youthful they are but infants. Others are lost in time and return decades or even centuries later. There are even legends of some who leave the caverns before they even enter!
Although difficult to defeat because of his ability to look into the corridors of time and repeat events if they do not progress as he feels they should. He is extremely wise and uses his insight to determine the best course of action before proceeding. Should this fail, he simply tries again as necessary, or uses his power to avoid the encounter entirely. Nozdormu can take any form he desires, as though constantly under the effects of a shapechange spell. He frequently takes on the role of a humanoid creature and travels incognito as a simple commoner or peon. When doing this, the only consistent trait he displays is the absence of any need to hurry.
During the Charge of the Aspects, Nozdormu arrives at Mount Hyjal to find Tick and a dying Zirion. Zirion is leaking the sands of time which Nozdormu attempts to reverse to no effect. He is shocked to discover that his powers had been predicted and countered by equally powerful spellwork. Tick then says Zirion came from the future, the Hour of Twilight. Nozdormu realised that he would descend into madness with the Hour of Twilight. He asks how Zirion was injured, and Tick anwsers saying that it was the Infinite Dragonflight and their leader. Nozdormu then pleads for forgiveness from Zirion before he passes away. Zirion uses the last of his strength to look away from the Timeless One with a look of terror in his eyes. Nozdormu then ventures to Nordrassil to have a meeting with the other aspects when he explains that he killed Zirion and will become the Infinite leader. Ysera ponders the thought of an aspect being charged to protect their flight but then killing one of their own before Nozdormu departed.
Shortly afterwards, Ysera and Kalecgos come up with an idea of retrieving the Dragon Soul from the past to vanquish Deathwing. After telling Alexstrasza, the Dragonqueen departs to tell Nozdormu. The two aspects eventually meet and discuss the plan. Nozdormu admitting that he once pondered on whether he should go back in time and save the dragonflights and Malygos. They debate on Alexstrasza’s intentions but eventually agree that sometimes life must be taken in order to preserve it. Nozdormu then returns, and the aspects work out a plan which involves going to the future to defeat Murozond and open the timeways to allow them to retrieve the Dragon Soul during the War of the Ancients. The aspects then ask Thrall to wield the Dragon Soul for no dragon can use it without causing themselves harm. Thrall agrees, but asks if the short-lived races can assist him. Alexstrasza agrees. Not long afterwards, Kalecgos brings up the fact that the Titans blessed the aspects for a reason, to stop the Hour of Twilight, but what would become of them afterwards. The aspects establish that they are intended to preserve the gifts they were given, for time, life, nature and magic last forever.
The Dragon Aspects, with allegiance from Thrall, have devised a dangerous and unorthodox strategy to bring Deathwing down once and for all. But to do so, they must acquire the Dragon Soul from a pivotal moment in the distant past. One of an infinite number of potential outcomes, the “End Time” timeway depicts the desolate future of Azeroth should its defenders fail to stop Deathwing. In this bleak future, Nozdormu has identified an anomaly that bars access to both the past and the Dragon Soul: a powerful creature from out of time, living alone amid time-twisted echoes of the past. In order for Nozdormu to provide you the ability to travel back in time to a point before the Dragon Soul was hidden by Malfurion Stormrage from anyone who’d seek its power, heroes must first go to a distant and desolate future to discover the anomaly blocking the past. The maniacal figure named Murozond blocking Nozdormu’s vision has the ability to create a new and infinite dragonflight.
Murozond is in fact the future version of Nozdormu who will inevitably go mad and try to interfere with the past, thus his past self will send adventurers in to the future to strike him down. Right after Murozond is slain Nozdormu tells them:
“At last it has come to pass. The moment of my demise. The loop is closed. My future self will cause no more harm from this day on. Still, in the future, I will… fall to madness. And you, heroes… will vanquish me. The cycle will repeat. So it goes. What matters is that Azeroth did not fall; that humanity survived to live another day. All that matters… is this moment.”
Fighting Murozond technically makes Nozdormu the second Aspect which can be fought and killed, Malygos being the first, and Deathwing the third. It’s interesting to note that Murozond’s name is an anagram of Nozdormu.

Alexstrasza the Life-Binder, Aspect of the red dragonflight, is the guardian of all life in the world of Azeroth. One of five great dragons chosen by the titans to be empowered with a portion of the Pantheon’s power and rule over her flight while they watch over Azeroth and its inhabitants.
Eonar, the Titan patron of all life, gave a portion of her power to the red leviathan, Alexstrasza. From that point onward she would work to safeguard all living creatures within the world. Due to her supreme wisdom and limitless compassion for all living things, Alexstrasza was crowned the Dragonqueen and given dominion over her kind.
This is my gift: compassion for all living things. A drive to protect and nurture them. And the ability to heal that which others cannot, birth what others may not, and love even the unlovable–who surely need such grace more than any other souls.
- Blessing of the Red Aspect, given by Eonar
Alexstrasza appears normally on the top tier of the Wyrmrest Temple in Dragonblight in a form resembling an unnaturaly tall female high elf or blood elf with pink skin, amber eyes and horns. During the Wrath of the Lich King, many members of the red flight, including Alexstrasza and her prime consort, had led the Wyrmrest Accord, an alliance of the remaining four dragonflights defending the temple against the blue dragonflight and its Aspect, Malygos. The undead Scourge had laid siege to the surrounding five dragonshrines in an effort to raise terrifying new variations of undead dragons. To arrest these invasions, Alexstrasza had begun recruiting heroes to aid Ceristrasz and Vargastrasz in the Ruby Dragonshrines defense against the Lich King.
Alexstrasza also appears in her draconic form at Angrathar the Wrathgate after the completion of Return to Angrathar and in the Eye of Eternity raid in the Nexus, where she and her children will aid players in slaying the Spell-Weaver.
With the rise of Deathwing during World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, Alexstrasza has taken a very active role in defending Azeroth against the Aspect of Death, eventually ordering her entire dragonflight to war against the Black Dragonflight. She and her red dragonflight are featured heavily in the Twilight Highlands where they fight against the Twilight’s Hammer clan and struggle to breach Grim Batol. Alexstrasza herself battles Deathwing above Grim Batol during the Battle of Life and Death quest. Though Deathwing is gravely wounded, so too is Alexstrasza. She is taken to Wyrmrest Temple to recover from her injuries, but the weakening of Deathwing bought the mortal races time to prepare a final assault against him.
The reds are utterly loyal to their Aspect, Alexstrasza, who along with her consorts such as Tyranastrasz and Korialstrasz, are treated with great respect by the reds and the other flights. The reds are typically the only dragons mortals are likely to encounter, with the exception of the druidic allies of the greens. Like all dragons, they take their charges seriously and usually operate in secret, keeping tabs on important beings, organizations, and places, such as Cenarius, Dalaran, and the Scourge. As a result, the red dragonflight’s agents are often away, spreading themselves throughout Azeroth, and using their powers to disguise themselves as members of the mortal races, such as humans or elves. Like all dragons, the reds have the ability to create illusions on themselves and others. Often the dragons have mortals, dragonsworn, working on gathering information or doing other related errands.
All this is done to maintain harmony and the prosperity of life, the task entrusted to them. Due to Alexstrasza’s influence, the red dragonflight see themselves as custodians and defenders of life on Azeroth. Red dragons understand the secrets of life, and in turn those of death, like none others do, and have been granted great power over both. They are capable of rejuvenating and draining life, as well as performing a form of necromancy, though only as a last resort, as they are not fond of doing so. The breath of red dragons burns but also rejuvenates, and whenever a red dragon walks or breathes upon the soil, the earth is renewed.
While red dragons are the protectors of life, they will not hesitate to kill a creature if its actions endanger other lives. Many members of the red flight still remain distrustful towards mortals, especially the orcs, citing they have brought only danger and death to the world. Generally, though, red dragons are friendly to humans, elves, and their other traditional allies; for the most part, it is the representatives of the flight near Grim Batol who acted strangely hostile to any outsiders. The drake Axtroz and the dragonspawn located there will attack adventurers on sight.
Adult red dragons most often have names ending in “strasz” for males, or “strasza” for females. When taking humanoid form red dragons most often choose human, high elven, or blood elven forms.

I found the following from ‘Thrall: Twilight of the Aspects’ novel particularly sad…
After the cataclysm, the dragons convened upon Wyrmrest Temple to have their first meeting with the blue dragonflight since the death of Malygos. Korialstrasz, not particularly liked by many of the blues, specifically Arygos, chose to stay behind and watch his newest clutch of eggs in the Ruby Sanctum. As Alexstrasza traveled to the meeting above, Korialstrasz discovered the Twilight Hammer within the sanctum, casting dark spells on the eggs. Confronting them, he discovered that their spells had mutated the hatchlings, transforming them into deformed chromatic dragons. When he touched a mutated egg, the infection passed on to him. It was then revealed to him that not only was the entire clutch of eggs infected, but every flight’s eggs, in each of their sanctums. Half-mutated into a Chromatic dragon but thinking of his beloved Queen one last time, Korialstrasz summoned every ounce of his power and exploded the sanctum outward, destroying a good chunk of Wyrmrest Temple, and utterly obliterating himself and the sanctums. Along with the sanctums fell the thousands of corrupted eggs. While his death and apparent betrayal was a shock to the other dragonflights, Alexstrasza suffered the most. In sadness bordering on madness, she shattered the Wyrmrest Accord and fled to the center of Desolace, where she sat waiting for death. Thrall attempted to rouse her from her depression but could not.
Later, during a battle above Wyrmrest Temple, Thrall had a near-death experience after falling from extraordinary heights. In his vision, among other things he saw the truth behind Korialstrasz’s actions. When the battle had ended, Thrall brought the news to Alexstrasza, who rejoined the fight with renewed purpose to not let her love’s sacrifice be in vain.

The Red Drake mount is available at Exalted reputation with Wyrmrest Accord. Prior to The Shattering, this whelpling dropped from the Red Whelp, Flamesnorting Whelp, and Crimson Whelp. These creatures have since been removed. As of Patch 4.0.3, the Tiny Crimson Whelpling is now a zone drop from the Wetlands.
Ysera the Awakened is the green Dragon Aspect charged with the protection of the Emerald Dream who watches over Azeroth. She is known as the “mother” of Cenarius to Druids.
Eonar the titan blessed Alexstrasza’s younger sister, the lithe green dragon Ysera, with a portion of nature’s influence. Ysera fell into an eternal trance, bound to the waking Dream of Creation. Formally known as the Dreamer, she would watch over the growing wilds of the world from her verdant realm, the Emerald Dream.
You are bound to the waking Dream of Creation. Nature is your realm, and all things have caught glimpses of the Emerald Dream when they sleep. You see them all, Ysera. And they see you, though they may not know it. Like the Life-Binder, you touch all living beings, and sing to them the songs of creation and interconnectedness.
- Blessing of the Green Aspect, given by Eonar
Ysera’s projection appears at the Emerald Dragonshrine in Dragonblight. Her skin glitters with countless emeralds while her physical form is ethereal, like watching a living dream or vision. The Emerald Dream is a place where all living beings dream while sleeping. A place where sentient beings have dreams of hope and faith for a better tomorrow. From the Emerald Dream, Ysera can observe all lesser races. Although her eyes are usually closed, you can see her pupils constantly moving as if watching many dreams at once.
Ysera can assume the female form of any race, depending on whom she is talking to. She often wears an emerald green dress with emerald jewellery and emerald hair. Her updated model and wardrobe can be seen below.
She avoids and dislikes combat, especially in her realm. When angered, she becomes paranoid and impulsive, keeping herself isolated in the Eye of Ysera within the Emerald Dream and rarely seen in the real world. When in combat, she attacks with her greenish breath to put her opponents to sleep, and rarely strikes to kill. She prefers to neutralise her enemies and banish them away from her realm.
Ysera can travel anywhere she wishes by entering the dreams of any sleeping living being. She may enter the dreams of a target to communicate or warn the sleeper. Ysera has the ability to planeshift between the real world and the Emerald Dream.
Ysera has also appeared at Mount Hyjal under the World Tree Nordrassil during the Cataclysm expansion.
After the War of the Ancients, Alexstrasza planted a magical acorn from the Mother Tree G’Hanir within the second Well of Eternity, created by Illidan. The Tree grew large till it reached the heavens and was crowned Nordrassil. Ysera enchanted the tree so that it was bound to the Emerald Dream.
Ysera was one of the Dragon Aspects that gave some of her power to the Demon Soul, not knowing Neltharion would betray the Aspects.
Read about Ysera’s most trusted lieutenants.
