The first time I saw the Blood Elf Orphan during BC, I thought she was one of the cutest things in the game so I always made an effort to pick one up for Children’s Week. I was particularly excited to see the event commence on my birthday and was happy to show her a few of my favourite locations.
Even though the event is now over, I still wondered what the Pandarian counterpart would include so feel free to join in with me. All you have to do is come up with three locations and a reward.
Whenever I feel like a bit of rest and relaxation, I head to one of my absolute favourite spots in Tian Monastery, as featured in my Adventures of Cymre Jones video. Personally, I’d love to see a lily pond in my garrison but even if that never happens, I know where I can go for some scenic beauty.
Then there’s the Ambermarsh in Townlong Steppes. I remember thinking it was some sort of magical wonderland during my exploration of the beta.
Lastly, the Serpent Spine roll track was always fun, especially when you get the Roll Club achievement.
As a reward I’d still love to see one of these glow flies in my collection. I mean it wouldn’t even have to battle.
So what about you?
There are currently ten Children’s Week mini pets available as quest rewards. Originally it was only possible to collect one pet per year but since the introduction of Outland and Northrend to the game we’re now able to complete each set of quests per year. Players can choose one of four companions for completing each series of quests in Azeroth and Outland, and one of two companions in Northrend. However, with the addition of account-wide pets in Mists, this will no longer be essential, if you’re a serious pet collector.
Whiskers the Rat
Curious Oracle Hatchling
Curious Wolvar Pup
This year, the holiday will begin on April 29 and end on May 5.
One quest has changed this year. Previously, we were asked to visit the raceway in Thousand Needles but due to changes from the Shattering the quest has now been changed to Ridin’ the Rocketway.
The rest of the quests appear to be the same, including an ice cream treat and flying a kite together.
The most exciting thing for me is that I FINALLY have all of the pets! Being a Blood Elf, I was always one behind with the ones in Orgrimmar. So yesterday, I was able to complete my collection with the Rat Cage.
For those who don’t have all the pets on your main, don’t worry as Mists will be bringing account wide pets, meaning you can have them all spread out amongst all your toons on the same account right now. So if you’re missing some, just do the quests and collect a different pet on each toon.
Alternatively, if you already have all the pets, you can choose one of the other two rewards: Magical Pet Biscuit (new for this year and works just like Papa Hummel’s Old-Fashioned Pet Biscuit – the TCG item) or Curmudgeon’s Payoff.
