Rivendare's Reins

Dare to Rein

16

It was very unusual to see a BE on an undead horse (during BC) but it was an idea that Coolidge came up with when I wanted to ride something more unusual than a hawkstrider. He knew how much I liked riding my human’s racial mount back in vanilla so it turned out to be a great idea. In fact, it took me quite a while to choose which horse I wanted to buy back then – I ended up buying one in Wetlands after an hour or so :P

As a Horde player, this was the next best thing as I worked on my rep with Undercity.

Çymre & Çoolidge before our name changes

Here we are in Blades Edge Mountains on a rather sad day. We had to change our names due to a character violation so this was the last pic I took of us before we were forced to change them for good.

Over the years, I’ve spent a lot of time in Strat, first on my hunter farming a couple of bone slicing hatchets (since I loved duel-wielding) and then later doing those timed runs for our dungeon upgrade chains. Now and then I would farm the place for Rivendare’s mount but that became boring pretty quickly for the effort it took.

It’s now been a while since I stepped into Stratholme but today I had the urge to try again for Rivendare’s mount. As I reached the end of the forth reset of the day, an epic drop stood out. EEE! It was the mount earning me the Feat of Strength – Deathcharger’s Reins.

I’m still a fair way off from 200 mounts but it feels great to get another one out of the way.

My Top Ten Companion Pets

10

With so many pets in my collection right now, I wasn’t sure if I could pick ten favourites but I thought I should have a go as there are some that stand out after all these years. Originally proposed by Swenyola here is my contribution in order of play.

1. Tranquil Mechanical Yeti

Back in vanilla, this was a gift from Fatboyflash when he found out how much I liked his and made another.

2. Hyacinth Macaw

I can’t tell you how much time I spent farming the pirates in Stranglethorn so when JKo offered to farm one for me, he wasn’t kidding when he said he was really lucky with pet drops. I still can’t believe he farmed mine in MINUTES!

3. Pandaren Monk

One of many gifts Coolidge has bought for me over the years but may possibly be my favourite. The Celestial Steed comes a close second though, even though it’s a mount.

4. Magical Crawdad

Considering this took FIVE Mr Pinchys to collect, how could I not include it.

5. Sand Scarab

I’ve been lucky to receive a few gifts from Arvash but this may be my favourite after my love of Uldum.

6. Landro’s Lil XT

The venue of one of my weekly hangouts (when I can), this was a Winter Veil gift from Herculano.

7. Guardian Cub

As part of my Secret Santa gift from Angelya last year.

8. Lil’ Tarecgosa

I was so excited about collecting this pet but we never managed to finish it in the Guild but thanks to the generosity of those in Shadow Rising, I can now say I have one.

9. Sunreaver Micro-Sentry

After trying to farm this for a while, Luxy surprised me by telling me she had an extra one.

10. Tuskarr Kite

One of my newest pets, the Tuskarr Kite was a recent birthday present from Navi.

There are a few others which come to mind like the Crimson Whelping which I farmed for weeks during vanilla or the Vampiric Batling dropped by Prince Tenris Mirkblood as part of the Scourge Invasion in 2008.

Thanks to the generosity of all my friends who have helped me on my quest to collect all the non-combat and battle pets over the years.

It All Really Adds Up

8

It’s not that often that I get to post about Guild accomplishments so I’m happy to say that we finally reached another general milestone. I noticed that we were somewhat close (at least compared to some other achievements) when we started levelling in Pandaria so I was checking the achievement every now and then to see how we were going.

The other night I was working on my Archaeology and was trading in my restored artifacts late one night when I accidentally hit my dagger icon instead of opening my Arch journal as I was leaving. This is the second time I’ve done this in a few weeks but instead of checking my friends list to see if someone could rez me at the Seat of Knowledge, I released and spoke the the spirit healer just outside our city.

Spirit Healer

OUCH! 254 Gold plus rez sickness.

The latter I didn’t mind so much as I wasn’t really doing much at the time but the next day as I repaired in the Shrine of Two Moons it happened – the Guild achievement came up. It is true what they say, it really DOES add up.

Next one will probably be the Critter Kill Squad with under 7000 to go… they make it a lot easier in Pandaria though, unlike the poor sheep in Uldum (which are no longer critters).

In other news, I managed to get nine golden chests from my solo scenario this week. So close! But considering I had six in the first room, one in the hallway and then fell short in the second room, I have an idea for next week since it’s the last achievement I need for In the Halls of the Thunder King. Then in Ulduar we managed to get a fragment by doing the council on hard mode killing the big one last. I look forward to going back in there later this weekend to kill more of the later ones.
