Rares
Primordial Direhorns
7By now you’ve probably seen the Zandalari Warbringers around the place, maybe even a lone Pterodactyl and the not so stealthy Warscouts traversing the zone. Although I always thought it was kind of amusing how you could see the scouts a fair distance away – as I spotted one while doing a fabled pet battle that first day.
Warbringers
There are only three Warbringers which can spawn in five locations around Pandaria. Each one is defined by the colour of mount he rides which has a small chance to drop if you’re very lucky. As a 92 rare elite, they are easily killed with just two people, as Cool and I have proved on numerous occasions. However, they do not share a tag like the Isle of Thunder rares so you’ll have to be quick if you want a chance at the spoils. Recently, the warbringers were hotfixed so they couldn’t be taunted which may be a welcome addition for some.
Just like War-God Dokah, the Warbringers share five abilities but will only use four at a time:
-
Tribal Mask -> Horrific Visage: AOE (Smart fear) He will never cast on a player with Fear Ward active. -
Scarab Brooch -> Scarab Swarm: Scarabs may be easily killed or will despawn after time -
Thundering Sigil -> Thunder Crush: Avoid lightning cloud on the ground -
Star Map -> Meteor Shower: Avoid meteor barrage -
Spirit Charm -> Vengeful Spirit: Avoid the Spirit as it hits very hard, can be CC’ed
Each Warbringer can drop a combination of the following:
- Small Bag of Zandalari Supplies
- Stolen Golden Lotus Insignia
- Stolen Klaxxi Insignia
- Stolen Celestial Insignia
- Stolen Shado-Pan Insignia
- Big Bag of Zandalari Supplies
but with such a small drop rate for the mount, I have yet to see one.
Warscout
At the same time, two Warscouts may be found walking in opposite directions from each Warbringer location with three of the above buffs active. These scouts should be soloable by every class and can drop the same items as the Warbringers (excluding the mounts) albeit less loot compared to their more difficult counterparts.
So good luck and happy hunting.
The Veiled Stair
18For a small zone, it’s quite impressive to see so many points of interest for anyone passing through the area. In fact, it’s the breadcrumb quest which leads you from the Valley of Four Winds and into Kun-Lai Summit, particularly if you’re 87.
Apart from a couple of local quests, you’ll find the current location of Wrathion in this expansion as well as the Terrace of Endless Spring raid. For a couple of XP boosts, don’t forget to loot the Forgotten Lockbox on the second floor of the Tavern in the Mists and the The Hammer of Folly – part of the Riches of Pandaria achievement.
Behind the inn, you’ll see a number of familiar faces, including some of the combatants you encounter at the Temple of the White Tiger.
Then if you head under the Inn, you’ll find an interesting NPC who is not without some perks of his own.
But if you’re a fan of the BMAH, you might even run into a rare named Willy Wilder – a play on Willy Wonka and Gene Wilder which fans of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will instantly recognise. Not surprising when his abilities are Violets and Blueberries and Stuffed. He appears to spawn just outside the BMAH only to walk inside to bid on a Blood-Soaked Invitation which he then wins.
Excitedly, he then runs outside saying:
YES! Finally! I won a Brawler’s Guild invite! Nobody can stop me now!
I won a Brawler’s Guild invitation just now! I’ll surely be rank 8 by tonight! I sure hope I don’t lose my ticket before I get there.
Everyone look! I won a Brawler’s Guild invite! I can’t wait to try it out!
…so it’s not surprising that he is guaranteed to drop a Blood-Soaked Invitation when killed.
I guess I wasn’t ready to be a brawler.
Apparently, if you choose not to kill him, he runs all the way down the Path of a Hundred Steps and promptly despawns at the bottom.
Question of the Day: What is the craziest/most expensive thing you’ve bought from the BMAH to date?
Isle of Thunder Rares
4There are eleven new rares on the Isle of Thunder but only ten are needed for Champions of Lei Shen. They can all drop a Shan’ze Ritual Stone and a the Key to the Palace of Lei Shen (which are lootable once a week) as well as the Sealed Tome of the Lost Legion for warlocks – lootable by the first warlock to pick it up. However, each rare is guaranteed to drop a Tome of Valor making it that much easier to be capped for the week.

Drop: Sunreaver Micro-Sentry
Nalak will be available once all the stages are complete.
