The Onyxian Drake is one of the few mounts I’d be willing to buy from the BMAH but tonight that finally changed. I hadn’t even realised it was in the loot window until I summoned Jeeves to sell the items one by one but there it was – the Reins of the Onyxian Drake.
Ain’t she a beaut?
Early on, I knew I wouldn’t be making the Jeweled Onyx Panther until late in the expansion and it turns out I was right. It was only when I was working on my 200 mount achievement, that I decided to add the Jade Panther, Ruby Panther, Sunstone Panther and Sapphire Panther to my collection.
Lately though, I’ve been thinking about the Jeweled Onyx Panther again. After finding an Orb of Mystery in a Blingtron Gift Package, it sat in the Guild Bank for months until I decided to focus on the last panther finally. I had enough gold to buy two more orbs but it was a struggle getting enough for the last. In the end I asked Cool to loan me the last 10K I needed.
Such a fitting mount for a JC who likes her bling.
Something to go with my Jewelled Fishing Pole perhaps?
The Black Qiraji Resonating Crystal was a mount of legend which had no equal until its closest counterpart was unearthed beneath the sands of Uldum. It was rewarded to anyone who used their Scepter of the Shifting Sands to bang the gong during the 10 hour opening of AQ event. As such it was the only qiraji you could mount outside the walls of AQ so extremely rare although I would have preferred ‘Scarab Queen’ for a title :P
My contributions towards the war effort were dedicated but I never went as far as collecting the [Silithid Carapace Fragments] for myself (although I did help a couple of others with theirs). My epic adventure began years later and even then it was a huge effort to complete.
Last week I was looking through my mount journal on the PTR and noticed several differences. Not only was the Enchanted Fey Dragon present but my very own Black Qiraji Battle Tank. OMG, how exciting! In true Cymre Jones fashion, I headed back to Uldum before making my way though Silithus.
But like most good things, it was just an illusion. Time to return to the real Azeroth…
Ah, it was nice while it lasted. Hooray for the Scepter of Azj’Aqir.
I was excited to see the Enchanted Fey Dragon and Alterac Brew Pup available to purchase in the Blizzard Store today after seeing my twitter feed and blogroll inundated with posts and pics. When Coolidge came home he promptly bought the package deal for both of us.
If you right-click the pup, he will dispense some Mulled Alterac Brandy which is a strong alcoholic beverage and only took four to see this…
Oh and watch what happens when you target him with /helpme.
As usual, I spent part of my evening levelling this guy up.
Thx Cool for adding another two beauties to the collection. <3
I still wish I had a pair of flying goggles to match though :P
It’s also great to read that Blizzard is matching employee donations for the recent disaster in the Phillipines caused by Typhoon Haiyan. For more info, you can visit the Red Cross Typhoon Appeal to make a donation directly.
When I discovered two new engineering pets and a mount were coming, I had every intention of making the pets first but the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to make the mount. I know, GASP! The same thing happens when I upgrade my gear, I purchase the more expensive pieces first like the chestpiece. This meant it would take a full month to transmute 30 pieces of Jard’s Peculiar Energy Source for the Sky Golem. As expected, I saw a few people running around on these yesterday, including Cool.
Collecting the schematic wasn’t bad at all since it dropped off the first set of mobs we pulled. This is what you can learn:
I had seen Cool on his earlier and I must admit it looked like a lot of fun so as soon as the daily CD reset (I missed a day =S), I was on my engineer ready to make it. I couldn’t wait to take it for a test drive.
Too bad my herbie is already a toe picker.
Next on the list is Pierre and with Cool working on Rascal-Bot, I should have them both within a day of each other. Speaking of which, I’ve had a great time re-watching Alias.
I always thought it was a little strange how the Ashes would drop from Kael’thas in Tempest Keep instead of Al’ar himself but being such an awesome mount to get back then it does make sense. The mount is currently listed at a 2% drop rate so you still don’t see that many around. I always felt they were kind of blinding so I never looked at them for too long – kind of like looking at the sun.
When I entered Tempest Keep, I opted to go a different route and went straight to Kael’thas instead of doing either of the side bosses. I didn’t think much about it at the time since I figured I don’t really need the pets but I was planning to do them afterwards. Funnily enough, I didn’t realise the mount had dropped since I was talking to someone at the time but then I saw the achievement pop just up as I looted.
As soon as I left the raid, I took him out for a test drive feeling very regal indeed. To help mark the occasion, I flew to Area 52 for a quick change of attire.
Still shots really don’t do it justice so I took the liberty of taking a short video.
