Good News and Bad News

So I know it’s been a while and since RL has been keeping me pretty busy – I started my own business last year so that’s where a lot of my focus has been – there hasn’t been too much to do in WoW so I’ve suspended my subscription for the first time in 13 years! Now I have to admit, not letting my subscription lapse til now has been pretty cool but once my account went inactive, I was expecting to take a break for several months until this happened a week later…

I was extremely excited to get an alpha invite since I’d never had one so early but my excitement waned when I had trouble launching the game on both computers. I tried several troubleshooting suggestions and as a last-ditch effort submitted a ticket which offered a few more suggestions. Sadly, the second GM confirmed my graphics card was just too old to support the new requirements for the game – namely DirectX 11. /cry

Well, there goes any exciting video content for the time being. Sorry Patrons, readers and subscribers. Hopefully, there are some who will still find my content useful but I’ll be sure to post some interesting content from the alpha when I can – like the fact we’ll have new pet battle world quests and dungeons coming in BfA. As well as more options to permanently change the look of some pets like Uuna and possible new pet rescues, etc. like Grumpy or the bear cub. :)

If you’re like me and in need of an upgrade, check out the system requirements you’ll need to run the game.

In other news, they finally revealed the contents of the Collector’s Edition and I have to say, it doesn’t seem like you’re getting that much for the price. Notably absent are the physical items you’d expect but a digital soundtrack, and no art book or mouse pad.

I for one, loved the mouse pads from previous expansions, although I haven’t bought a Collector’s Edition since Cataclysm. That’s the main reason I’m still using Deathwing after all these years. From some of the comments, not too many people are impressed with the contents, or lack thereof.

What do you think? Will you be ordering one or just the Digital Deluxe?

  1. I just bought the plain old digital upgrade, was feeling I maybe shouldn’t have but now I’m happy I did. I got an alpha invite and my old computer has done fine. The problem is with me, lol. I logged in for the first time and thought, where the hell am I? Is this Rift? Is this Guild Wars? What is going on?

I’ll be interested if anyone else felt the same way or is it just me, the artwork did not look right to me. we’re not in Kansas anymore, weird.

Hope your business is doing well!

    • Thanks Tome. It’s definitely kept me busy and I love seeing the results and confidence in my clients. The hardest thing is getting referrals atm but I look forward to growing over the next year. Thankfully, I have some suppotive family and friends which helps a lot. ☺

Congrats! Yeah, it looks like they’ve opened up the alpha to a lot more people this time as a few of my friends seems to have it (including one of my patrons). I bet August will be here before we know it at this rate. Hope you’re well.

  2. Best of luck on your new business! I know that kind of got lost with the rest of the post, but I thought it important. A new business is never easy to pull off, so here’s hoping you can.
