Wow, can you believe it’s almost been a week since the expansion came out? There are just so many things to do and see. Plus, I finally got to see some of those awesome cutscenes which did not disappoint at all!
Like many, I had a less than ideal experience with an 8hr queue on Saturday but at least I was still able to play for 3.5hrs before the servers dropped out. I really don’t envy the developers and CMs since they have to deal with the fallout but at least we get 5 free days of playtime as compensation.
I’ve been 100 for a little over a day now but it’s been quite tough with the final construction costs. In the beginning, I started with the Tavern so I could supplement my followers but since I wouldn’t be doing any dungeons this early on, I decided to build a Barn instead. My hunter was supposed to build the barn but since I haven’t managed to level past 91 on two of my alts, I figured I could get the pet on my main being an engineer and all. Little did I realise what kind of impact this would have at 100 when I could upgrade my Town Hall to level 3. By the time I had dinged 100, I only had 833 garrison resources meaning I was short 1167 for the final upgrade (and access to the pet menagerie).
A couple of days ago, I replaced the Barn with the Trading Post to help out with various resources and when I get the auctioneer up and running, that will be a major perk. The problem is, the amount of garrison resources you accumulate and lose in the process. Since I had dismantled two buildings already I was already behind when it came to the 2000 I would need to upgrade my Town Hall to level 3. The garrison cache no longer contained the initial 1000 count so I was surprised to see only 50 the first time I looted it. Yesterday, I spent a lot of time farming all the rares and treasures I had missed so I could finally upgrade my garrison the final time. To try and make this as painless as possible, I headed to Ashran to buy any Treasure Maps I didn’t have and installed an addon to track any rares and treasures I hadn’t looted yet.
The Pet Menagerie was supposed to unlock at 98 but doesn’t technically appear until all your plots to level 2 and your Town Hall is level 3. Well, I knew what I would be doing over the next day or so. I had to get my Town Hall to level 3 so I could open up the the remaining plots and Pet Menagerie.
This was my reaction when I first found the Treasure Maps on a vendor. At one stage, they were rewarded (via the mail) when you completed a zone but this gives us the choice to explore on our own – unless you buy the spyglass from the Smuggler’s Run vendor. In my opinion, it’s a lot more fun to find something in the wild and I’m not exaggerating when I say you can find treasures EVERYWHERE.
In other news, I’ve been getting A LOT of views on my treasure and jumping puzzle videos. I love reading when one of my videos has helped someone out and leaving a ‘thumbs up’ lets me know what you’ve found most useful. I usually only post the trickier ones (like the one above) so take a look if you haven’t already.
There have also been a lot of players visiting my npc in Gorgrond. It’s so exciting to see all your pics on Twitter and hear about your experiences (whether you’ve been successful or failed miserably). It kind of feels like an egg hunt only I’m the prize! :D

Today I scrounged up enough resources to build the Lumber Mill. That will definitely help with my garrison resource situation and the epic follower doesn’t hurt either.
Lastly, I do need to thank all the readers looking at my Garrsion Guide. My blog views have sky-rocketed over the last few days and I can’t thank you enough. Even now, I’m tweaking bits here and there so I hope it’s proved useful for many of you.
How has your week been so far?
