Ten Years in Azeroth

To celebrate the upcoming 10th Anniversary of WoW, Godmother has put together 1o Years, 10 Questions so we can all look back on our time in Azeroth.

1. Why did you start playing Warcraft?
My brother had just started playing and while watching him do a few quests in the starting area, he showed me the cinematic trailer (which looked a little scary to me). Even so, he handed me one of his 10 day passes so I could try it out. I did and was hooked after the first couple of quests.

2. What was the first ever character you rolled?
A human pali which seemed like a fun character to play since she was melee with spells.

3. Which factors determined your faction choice in game?
I chose Alliance because it was the most normal looking race (and the one my brother played) although I didn’t know what server he was on at the time.

4. What has been your most memorable moment in Warcraft and why?
I’m not sure if it’s necessarily in-game but there have been many. The Thanksgiving Event in 2011 turned out to be a real turning point for me. It gave me the courage to post in a public forum and turned out to be a great opportunity to meet so many wonderful people from other realms and regions.

5. What is your favourite aspect of the game and has this always been the case?
When I first started playing my hunter, it was all about taming those rares and collecting silver dragon shots. Now I have so many other interests from collecting pets and achievements to transmog and treasure hunting.

6. Do you have an area in game that you always return to?
I find myself in Uldum quite a lot. I just love the zone from it’s Egyptian feel to the Harrison Ford questline.

7. How long have you /played and has that been continuous?
Since April 2005 and the only lapses in play have been from holidays where I’ve not had access to the game.

8. Admit it: do you read quest text or not?
I always like to read them through the first time (although that doesn’t always happen).

9. Are there any regrets from your time in game?
Some of the interactions with people.

10. What effect has Warcraft had on your life outside gaming?
It’s funny, I only started collecting nerdy t-shirts over the last year. Sometimes when I watch movies, I’m reminded by something in-game although it’s probably more correct to say it’s the other way around. Other than that I like to keep my gaming persona separate from RL. My friends and family know I play but don’t know much more than that.

There you go, short and sweet.
