It’s New Year’s Eve and my Annual Report from WordPress arrived just in time. A nice surprise from last year, I must say.
Here’s an excerpt:
The Louvre Museum has 8.5 million visitors per year. This blog was viewed about 170,000 times in 2013. If it were an exhibit at the Louvre Museum, it would take about 7 days for that many people to see it.

I was able to visit Paris back in ’97 but sadly I missed out on seeing the Louvre as well as some other well known landmarks during our free afternoon. It’s definitely on my ‘must see’ list if I ever make it back there.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all my readers and commenters for their support over the past year. I look forward to posting more of the same during the WoD beta (hopefully) and beyond.
Wishing you all a safe and joyous New Year.
See you all in 2014.
A few days ago, I was killing Primal Stalkers on the Timeless Isle when a Pristine Stalker Hide finally dropped. Talk about exciting, especially when it’s been almost three weeks since the last rare drop. Then today I was killing some of the harder yaungol with Cool when a Blizzard Stone popped up on group loot from one of the Chanters. That makes two weather stones so far.
I just love watching this list shrink. If only it happened more often though.
The OLRG headed into Firelands with exactly ten including Matty, Tome, Shoryl, Helke, Taik and Starre. This allowed us to tackle everything without much trouble until we planned on completing the Bucket List achievement. Not an Ambi-Turner was easy since we only had to focus on one leg.
Even Baleroc was an easy burn.
But one near wipe was all it took to get Shannox down a second time. Granted we needed to look up where the Path of Corruption was and it helps when the tank doesn’t die :P
Luckily we didn’t need to go far when we reached the path to Beth’tilac’s enclosure although I later read that you could just kite him along the cliff closest to her room for credit. As you can see, we managed to kill him just in the nick of time.
As someone mentioned afterwards, Rag seemed pretty anticlimactic after kiting Shannox around the whole zone and I’d have to agree. It might take a couple more trips to get the other six I need for Glory of the Firelands Raider but in the meantime, thanks for the fun and achievements guys. I hope the rest of your run was just as eventful.
Can you believe it’s almost the end of another year already? Just where did the time go? Once again I’m making a list so I can remember what was given as well as received during this holiday period.
Tome was the first one to surprise me with a gift this year. I was able to reciprocate with a Ji-Kun Hatchling which seemed fitting for a druid.
I knew I wanted to give Matty something from the Timeless Isle but it’s hard enough seeing the Spirit of Jadefire alive, let alone the drop – at least in my experience.
Cool has been wanting a Crawling Claw for the longest time so when I wasn’t able to get one the old fashioned way, I ended up buying one. We had a claw war to celebrate. Cool bought me a new headset (which has yet to arrive).
Navi was impossible to gift with a pet so I made her a card instead. She ended up being my Aussie Twitter Secret Santa this year.
Arvash only left two possibilities but with one so rare, it was also missing from my own collection. I was left with one option – trying to find a Droplet of Y’Shaarj.
I wanted to give Rades something since he’s given me a lot of blog traffic over the past two years. At first I was going to give him an ENG pet or a Blackfuse Bombling but that proved too expensive. Then I noticed some similarities on our hunters, like our affinity for spirit beasts, including Loque’nahak which is my absolute favourite. In the end I made him a Sapphire Cub (upgraded) to celebrate the fact.
There were also a few others but it didn’t quite work out.
A couple of days ago @DiscoPriest asked: “What’s the best gift you’ve gotten someone else this season?” My answer was simple, “all the pets I’ve given although it’s left me rather poor. =/”
Even so, their reactions made it all worthwhile.
Don’t forget to open your Winter Veil Gift and loot your Crashin’ Thrashin’ Flyer Controller for 2013. You can also complete The Danger Zone achievement by destroying someone else’s flyer.
I hope you all had an eventful Winter Veil.
A while ago, I read about a cool little item added specifically for mages in Patch 5.4.2. Much like the Anglers Fishing Raft for wood lovers, Bipsi’s Bobbing Berg is a great way to travel over water on a conjured sheet of ice.
Save a tree, conjure a raft!
At revered you can purchase the berg for 750G (discounted price with perks) from Nat Pagle. Non mages will not see this item on the vendor but it will only take a few days to get revered with The Anglers if you already have the commendation applied to your account.
The berg can be stored in the Lure Master Tackle Box and used to fish on open water.
WTB more fun class specific items like this.
