A Large Pile Of…

There are many reasons to visit the Isle of Bones, especially if you’re a fan of prehistoric dinosaurs and Jurassic Park. In fact, you may even recognise a few NPC references from the movie. My first few outings included some pet farming, tome farming for my hunter, a rare kill and even a world boss. The rest involved a lot of bone farming with Cool every now and then.

There are two main reasons to collect bones on the Isle, depending on whether you’re a fan of pets, mounts or both. However, it should be noted that the dinosaurs can also drop Primal Eggs – which I have yet to see. The eggs are similar to the Mysterious Egg, an item you could purchase from The Oracles in Northrend. Unfortunately, the Cracked Egg only had a chance to give a pet or mount after a 7 day wait but this was later changed to 3 days. The good news is, the Primal Eggs are guaranteed to give you one of three mounts – the Reins of the Black Primal Raptor, Reins of the Green Primal Raptor or Reins of the Red Primal Raptor. Hopefully, I’ll see one sometime in the future.

Once you’ve collected 999 bones for A Large Pile of Giant Dinosaur Bones, you can hand them in to Ku’ma who resides in a nearby cave. In return, he will give you the Spectral Porcupette.

The best part was, I was able to loot 999 bones exactly, meaning that Cool could loot the rest from now on. All he has to do is finish his 9,999 bones for A Mountain of Giant Dinosaur Bones which will reward the Reins of the Bone-White Primal Raptor.

The other day I also noticed a few Spectral Porcupines around Pandaria.

They are not really my cup of tea though so I’ll leave it at my newly farmed battle pet.

  1. I really like cools transmog. Nicely put together! I keep scrolling back and forth between the pics trying to see what parts is used for it. :D

    • Thanks for the compliment. Still working on getting the gold Sunwell shoulder (which never drop!) so I can have a complete shiney BE pally look. Have to say it beats the blue pvp version, to me, because anyone that usually is a pally with that design mog goes for that one.

      • It’s hard to find a unique golden look as a paladin, but in not going for the pvp version you do look more unique. And I have to say, the substiture shoulders goes very well with the rest of the gear. So you’re looking great while waiting for the Sunwell ones to drop. Nontheless I do hope they will drop for you soon. :)

  2. This is hard, I have enough bones for two Spectral Porcupettes that I’m saving for the mount but it’s getting really difficult to not give in and spend some on the pet. It is indeed a lovely pet!

    • If I were going for both then I would probably save them for the big purchase (depending on how long it took me) but you might just need to get the pet first to help keep you motivated. I’m sure he makes a nice companion when bone farming.

  3. Are non-hunters able to see spectral pets or no? Because my pally saw the KW porcuspirit recently and I was confused.

    • These ones are the new challenge tames so everyone can see them. You will need to be a BM to attempt a tame though (like the ones in Cata).

    • Oh nice! Hehe, aww, that’s so nice of you to offer :) I’m sure we’re bound to see at least one egg from the rest of the bone farming =/

    • At least it’s faster with two people – and we can pull pretty big groups or the big primal if we’re feeling like more of a challenge. :P

  4. Grats on the pet! A nice person farmed mine for me… I am too useless to farm them at any particular rapid rate!
