The ONE

This week’s shared topic was brought to you by Cymre Jones

What is your absolute favourite profession in WoW? Why do you love it above all others and what is one feature you would add to the profession if you could?

Being a Blood Elf who likes her bling, you may think Jewelcrafting but this was a no-brainer for me since I’ve loved the thought of Archaeology ever since it was revealed as a new secondary profession. If you’ve followed my numerous adventures in search of the unfamiliar, I hope I’ve given some insight into some of the cooler aspects of the game.

After the Cataclysm, I was eager to uncover all the new pets and mounts the profession had to offer; so-much-so that I completed the Scepter of Azj’Aqir twice while searching for the Vial of the Sands recipe.

I also love my illusions

Fast forward to Mists and I was excited about the possibility of discovering all sorts of lost treasures and riches of Pandaria. I was so excited about getting my Relic Hunter title ASAP, I wasn’t aware it had become the topic of discussion until I had a random whisper one afternoon. I would love to know if I were the first on the server as it’s an activity that’s been close to my heart for a long time now. I even had a few people ask me for locations and such after noticing my title and staff.

More like another WOman’s Treasure

Now with the ability to display our artifacts in the Seat of Knowledge and with the introduction of our own homes on the farm (which is probably the closest thing we’ll have to player housing) makes me wish we had the ability to display or store our other knick-knacks in either location. Can you imagine being able to collect all the novelty items in the game and then store them for safe keeping? Kind of like Void Storage but not charging for the service. Think about it? You’d be able to pick them up and have a play or carry them around whenever you please. Talk about a space-saver. To illustrate, just look at the list of novelty items I’ve accumulated to date.

So tell me, what’s your favourite profession and why?

  1. I’m partial to cooking, but that’s just a reflection on what I like to do in real life too. It’s usually the first profession I’m able to max out on any of my toons. :)

    • Cooking was definitely more time consuming this time round but I love maxing all my professions, even the secondary ones.

  2. You know earlier when I first read this I couldn’t decide but I think cooking is my favorite too. Makes me feel self-sufficient, lol!

    • LOL, the only food I carry around these days are my Perpetual Leftovers :)

  3. Arch is my fave also, as painful as it has been at times (all the time) but I was a little disappointed with the lack of vanity items available from it in MoP, my inventory was thrilled however until rare spawns gave me all of their shinies!

  4. Scepter of Azj’Aqir twice!!!!
    I can’t get it once :(

Archaeology is my fav too, but I have no luck. I have yet to get the mounts and still a pet or two short.

    • Yep, I managed to get it on my druid while farming the Vial of the Sands. Hope to hear your get yours sometime soon.

  5. Hmmm this is a difficult question because different professions are my favorites at different times.

Fishing and Cooking: If I’m just trying to relax.
Archaeology: For it’s deep hooks into the game lore and it’s cool rewards.
Mining, Jewelcrafting, and Enchanting: If I’m trying to make some gold on the auction house.

    • I find the secondary professions are more relaxing normally. With Arch you can build up XP and vendor fodder/novelty items with little effort.

  6. Waiiit a sec… so according to you… “I completed the Scepter of Azj’Aqir twice while searching for the Vial of the Sands recipe.”

What do you do with the extra one?? Are you able to sell it?

I was under the impression that one could only complete a purple rare artifact one time each. Does this mean the Monkey Paw can be found more than once, etc?

    Reply
    • You can complete a rare artifact once per character. This was before account wide mounts so I had learnt it on both characters. You can technically discover the monkey paw once per toon.

  7. So in that case… I’m wondering what happens when you find the mount on a second toon, same account. I know the claw would be sellable, but wonder what happens to the extra mount? Can’t find anything on the web about it. :/

    • I can’t say for certain since I’ve only focussed on doing Arch on the one toon this expansion but for other mounts I have looted (which I already have), I can’t do anything with it. There’s no vendor price, etc. so it ends up being destroyed.
