What’s in a name? – the sequel
7It all started out so innocently this afternoon… or so I thought. There I was, reading my twitter feed conversing with @Dragonray and @Matticus when all of a sudden I was asked:
By the way @cymre how the heck do I pronounce your name? Sim-eer? Chim-ear?
— Matticus(@matticus) July 12, 2012
Now I admit it’s not an unusual question, in fact it’s a post I finally got around to writing a while ago, but as I was in the process of answering, I saw that I had a new interaction coming in on my feed. Once I answered the initial tweet, I saw what appeared to be an influx of answers or interpretations from other people.
There was a bit of creative cutting and pasting to get all the tweets in order but it was a pretty interesting few minutes. Apologies if I missed anyone.
So there you have it.
That’s the way my name is pronounced as well as the Welsh interpretation. You do learn something every day :)
Taurens in Ulduar
11I guess you could say this was my version of Sliders (I used to love that show, until they changed the main actor). But yes folks, if this were some parallel universe, Cool and I could have been upright cows.
In the last week of March, Cool and I did something drastic during our really shitty time in the game. As I stated earlier in the week, amidst our Guild and toon name changes, we also did some race changes. It wasn’t cheap but that the price we paid for the privacy we desperately needed. We didn’t do a lot on live but since Cool knows how much I love Ulduar, we decided to try some ULD10 since there was no way in Hell we could have killed past the first boss on ULD25.
So here’s a photo diary of our short time as cows – mostly of our kill shots in ULD.
As you can see, the first attempt didn’t go so well :P
I was having a bit of a lag issue so the cats were getting a bit much but once I changed back to Disc it was a lot better. If you look closely, you’ll notice the blue glow of my shoulders changes to my better geared Disc set, but the weapons are a bit of a giveaway too. I had forgotten what happened at the time but after seeing the pics, Cool was there to remind me.
All-in-all it turned out to be a productive afternoon and best of all I FINALLY managed to get my Igniter Rod! :D
Now to go back in there for all the transmog gear I’ve been coveting, get the rest of the achievements done and fragments on 25 for Val’anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings. I still have a way to go but I’m still determined to do it… let me know if any of you guys are up for it too sometime.
