Hi Cymre,

Apologies for not doing this sooner, but I'm still getting back into the swing of things.

I know things have since been resolved by Blizzard, but I'd just like to say how sorry I am that something like this happened to someone as nice as you. It is a truly, truly horrible experience, and you have my full sympathies.

It has happened to me once, (ironically just before Blizzard announced the launch of their authenticators). I was literally heartbroken, and I am not ashamed to admit it. My emotions ranged from white-hot anger at the perpetrators, through tearful frustration, to abject dejection. It may seem strange to anyone who's never experienced it, but I felt violated. A part of me had been taken over by a stranger, and they had not been kind.

The loss of the items and mementoes, while upsetting, pales in comparison with that sense of violation. I wanted to quit, to never log in again, and just have done with it all. Thankfully, my better half talked me round and convinced me that would only grant the account thief a second victory. It took time, but I eventually began playing again. Oddly, I drifted away from playing, what had been, my main shortly afterwards. Thankfully this was before Alethiar, as I would hate to think about not wanting to play her!

In short, I suspect I know at least some of what you'll be feeling, even with the "resolution". Just don't let this be the straw that breaks the camel's back. There is still so much fun and enjoyment to be had in WoW, and your voice has always served so well to convey much of that fun and wonder.

On a related note, I sincerely hope you do continue blogging about your experiences too. I will hold my hands up to being one of the guilty parties you mention above. I have read so many of your posts without commenting, and for that I apologise. Despite knowing how much a response to a post can mean, I still have a tendency to feel that you and other bloggers do not want to know what I think of your post. That somehow my opinion doesn't matter. That's my failing, not yours. You have an unique and inspiring voice, and sometimes I just don't feel I have anything valid to contribute. That doesn't change the amount of enjoyment I get from reading your posts, but I am painfully aware that you won't know that, because I don't tell you!

Anyway, I don't want to labour the point, (or am I just making up for lost time?).

I hope you're back in WoW to stay, and that you intend to continue writing. I will certainly continue reading, and do my best to comment a bit more.

If ever you need to vent to someone who knows what an account breach is like, give me a shout.

You know, please don't feel bad if I do not comment as much as I visit. Your blog, style and voice is one of my all-time favorites. You do not see or hear l the invisible thoughts: every time I kill a rare I think of you now. When I see a beautiful blood elf female I am rinsed of your style and grace. I am so so sorry about the hack. I would liken it to the level of having one's house vandalized. No platitudes or other words except for you are more "there" than perhaps you think or believe, but you are there for me.

Oh Cym, I just want to /hug you after reading this. I was hacked a couple of years ago and I know how it feels. =( All of that hard work, everything...just...gone, and worse than that, that feeling that is left that you can't quite put a finger on...

Your things will get restored in time though (and they will, blizz is really good about that), heck you may even get extra things that you didn't originally have... ;)

As others have said, I may not always comment, but I always read (and very much enjoy reading) your posts when I can. You have soooooo many people out there rooting for you. It may not feel like it sometimes, but you do! =)

/big hugs

I've had my account hacked a few times over the last few years and it can really be a devastating feeling to have so much stolen and sold off. The last time I think I had to wait around two weeks to get anything restored. Since then I use an authenticator and I haven't had any problems again.

If blogging is something you love keep at it. We all have those times where we feel like throwing in the towel but it isn't always a lasting feeling. I've felt like it many times over the past few years but I'm always glad I didn't, I love blogging about games.

It is only human to sometimes need a break from something. I've had to take certain breaks with my games, over the years, to just clear my head for a time. People will get over it and you'll feel more refreshed and less burnt out with your writing for it.

I hope you get things sorted out soon :)

Oh wow, I'm so sorry to hear that happened to you. I got hacked once during Wrath. I lost all my gear, and emptied my guild's bank of all the mats and gold...

Even after getting the authenticator and a full restoration, I couldn't bring myself to play Hyperious for about two weeks. Every time I logged on, I felt violated all over again, just seeing him near the bank in Orgrimmar.

Sad times. Hopefully you get everything all squared away quickly. *crosses fingers*

Oh no!
I'll admit I mostly read your blog via reader; but I do read every single one of your posts! (Sometimes I even save them up for taking quick breaks at work - especially the rare and mog posts, because the pictures are the most relaxing)
You've inspired me to write more than one post, and between you and Navi, got me started hunting rares.

I hope that you and Coolidge can find some fun... but if you need to find a new server and don't mind coming to the gold and blue, you could find a home in Higher Authority. :)

Really sorry to hear you got hacked :(
It seems to be going around at the moment but Blizzard are amazingly good at restoring everything.

I also have to echo Tome, I know I don't comment a lot but I do read all your posts and I will miss you if you do decide to quit. I'm actually working on a blog post at the moment inspired by one of your posts so even if you don't feel it, you have had a huge impact on the community.

Oh no Cymre, I'm so sorry to hear you got hacked, I can't even imagine how awful that must be. Hopefully Blizzard will get you back in one piece quickly.

Maybe if you just take a short blog holiday you'll feel like posting again. I know I'm being selfish but I'm used to waking up and finding three or four Cymre posts and saying OH! I've got to catch up! Quick, quick, catch up! If you're not here I would miss you horribly and I know I'm not the only one.
