For this small series of quests, we are tasked with helping Lin find Master Bruised Paw. Our only clue is heading north (unless you open your map). It’s not long before he puts us through a series of training exercises.
With some sparring
hitting a large rock
and smashing watermelons
We begin our first of three trials with Master telling us:
We will start with a test: The Trial of Bamboo.
Your friend Lin failed this test.
Follow me, and listen carefully to my instructions.
Objective: Speak with Master Bruised Paw, then successfully strike the Stack of Bamboo Reeds 3 times.
You have progressed in your training, I think. Come with me, and we will attempt the Trial of Wood.
Objective: Speak with Master Bruised Paw, then successfully strike the Stack of Wooden Blocks 4 times.
Once the second trial is mastered, Master Bruised Paw says:
I can sense your anxiety, but you are not ready yet. Your training must continue before you perform the final test. As for your task… I need you to fetch me some eggs.
Yes, eggs. The marshland atop the hills to the east is home to a number of birds, all of which are generally peaceful in nature. You should have no trouble gathering enough eggs to last me several weeks.
Once the eggs are collected, Master tells me: You have accomplished much in the short time you have been here, Cymre. I would not normally offer this test so soon… but I feel that you’re ready.
It is time you attempted the Trial of Stone.
Objective: Speak with Master Bruised Paw, then successfully strike the Stack of Stone Blocks 5 times.
It seems we’re not done yet as more training is required…
I was able to smash some explosive eggs
But that’ll teach Master Bruised Paw to take the Hornbill Strider’s egg (or ask me to).
A few things to note:
- Once in the vehicle part of the quest, other players don’t phase out of your scenario which doesn’t make for great screenshots.
- If you start the quest mounted (I was in my hog), the mount doesn’t phase out. It will follow you as you walk over to the blocks, like it’s part of your character.
- Coming out of the scenario, your action bars are hidden (this seems to happen every time there’s vehicle involvement).
All-in-all this was a very enjoyable series of quests.
As a fairly new Blogger (since December ’11) I haven’t participated in many Blogging events yet. I’d heard about this challenge from Navimie and was interested to find out more about it. Luckily for us, Kamalia decided to host it again this year, which was first run by Angelya back in 2010.
A total of 21 bloggers participated and I must say that there were some really devious players. I was a little surprised to find that mine was listed in the ‘Hard’ basket, as well as three others. Luckily for me, I managed to find two of these.
Here are the six I had trouble finding:
- the Golden Crusade – missed the hover on this one
Prospecting Rates page, “Pyrite Ore” pops up Brightly Coloured Egg tooltip from Wowhead instead of the proper ore tooltip
- Tome of the Ancient – sneaky sneaky Druid
Death Series page (linked in right sidebar), picture of Coldarra, fourth from top, has egg sitting on rock in lower right corner
- Toys of Azeroth – OK, I actually saw this one a few times but didn’t think it was the entry as it said ‘Netherwing Egg’ :P
Tiny Purple Dragon (third post of blog), “Netherwing Eggs” reference and Wowhead tooltip pop up in second sentence of last paragraph
- Orcish Army Knife – I did notice something with the banner but I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me (this was after a couple of hours of hunting) :P
Watch the right side of the header banner image carefully — the glow of the lantern will dim and brighten a couple of times, and then an egg will appear on the ledge directly above the lantern for a split-second before fading away again
After the deadline, I was eagerly anticipating who had won the awesome prizes for this year. This morning I awoke to find my winning email from Kamalia telling me I had won the Grand Prize – Cymre (and possibly Coolidge) would be featured in an upcoming episode of From Draenor With Love!
Congrats also to Tome of the Ancient who was the runner up and winner of a personalised headshot/avatar image of their character, again courtesy of Vidyala.
For those wondering where my egg was:
I decided to use the Critter Wars post as I referenced an “easter egg of sorts” back when I wrote it, so I thought it would be the perfect place for my hidden egg :)
Go to ‘Places‘ (in the top menu) scroll down to the “Survival of the Fittest” post about the fighting critters in Mulgore, hover over the top image (aerial view of plateau) to read “Mulgore Plateau – Noblegarden Egg – 2012″. Click on that to find a confirmation image :)
Just out of interest, how many found my egg? Let me know in the comments below…
