The One That Started It All

13

With so many memes and other challenges going around, I’ve been thinking about creating my own. So here’s my version of a screenshot challenge:

Show us your very first screenshot from the game. Tell us about it, including the date, what you remember about the photo and who was in it with you. Do they still play?

I’ve upgraded my computer several times since I started playing WoW, back in 2005. Back then, I didn’t really take a lot of screenshots but looking through my past emails and WOW folder /screenshot folder, this is what I have.

I’m not really surprised that this image has stood the test of time (and Hard Drives). To this day, it’s still one of my all-time favourites from the game. Huga and I were in a Guild called Fyrstorm. We had run UBRS, etc. many times to try and complete our dungeon sets. I remember my chestpiece became the bane of my existence. Hence the tabard. I used to hate kiting General Drakkisath to the Beast’s room. I was nervous every time I had to do it, as a bad kite would often mean a wipe. Luckily this didn’t happen too often, at least at my hands :)

I remember the first time, Huga whispered me “No pressure! :P” and I managed to kite the boss all the way to the Beast’s cubby hole before I finally tripped over my hoof. Thankfully, I eventually managed to get my chestpiece and later on we even managed to complete the upgrade chain which I was proud of.

I’m happy to say that Huga and I still play together but have since changed our mains to the photogenic Blood Elf Priest and Pali combo that makes us an unbeatable combo imo. So thanks Hug for so many wonderful memories. Here’s to the next six(ty) years, wherever that takes us.

If you decide to do the challenge and have no pingbacks to this page, please add a comment to the bottom. Alternatively add the #ONEmeme tag to your tweets to help track your participation :)

Elegant Mix

6

Not surprisingly, since this gown was so hard to get, I wore this outfit for a long time. At least longer than any of my other creations. I didn’t wear the set exactly like what you see above (it was really a mix of the two images); usually tweaking each outfit until I feel it’s a complete look. Honestly, I never liked the look of Benediction but you have to admit it does go well with the gown.

Helm: Halo of Transcendence
Shoulder: Pauldrons of Transcendence
Chest: Elegant Robes
Waist: Belt of Transcendence
Hands: Handguards of Transcendence
Wrist: Bindings of Transcendence
Feet: Boots of Absolution
Weapon: Benediction

Alternate Options
