Janeiro’s Point is a small island just outside Booty Bay, upon which a giant statue of Baron Revilgaz originally stood as a beacon to all travellers. Baron Revilgaz is the de facto ruler of Booty Bay and is able to observe strangers and visitors to his town atop his balcony on the Salty Sailor Tavern.
Since the Cataclysm, Janeiro’s Point has taken a fair amount of damage. Most of it can be seen on the left hand side of the statue where his missing arm is hard to miss, as well as some additional damage to the head area. A flying mount will allow easy access into the statue. Inside you’ll find a small alcove filled with unlootable treasure and chests. If you complete the small quest chain inside Zul Gurub you’ll get A Shiny Reward which you can collect from a chest inside the broken statue. The interesting thing to note is that the Black Ice ring which is one of four rewards from the chest not only sells for 100G but is also viewable on your finger when equipt. I just wish I knew that when I received the reward, pre void storage and all that. Unfortunately it’s also the only reward out of the four that’s BoP so no transferring to your bank toons for some flashy costume. Over the last year I’ve been able to take various shots inside the Statue. Interestingly enough it’s one of 25 random locations when using The Last Relic of Argus, one of the items obtained through Archaeology.
Just threw this one in for fun…
Kalecgos the Spell Weaver is the current Aspect of the blue dragonflight, after the death of Malygos. He often disguises himself as a half-elf, calling himself Kalec. Due to the blues being most in tune with magic of all the dragonflights, Kalec has the powers of a sorcerer and the strength of a warrior.
Prior to the Nexus War, Kalecgos was Malygos’ investigator, and became involved in the search for residual energies of the Sunwell. He opposed Malygos’ war against mortal spellcasters and became the blue dragonflight’s ambassador to the Wyrmrest Accord.
During the events of the War against the Lich King, Kalec decided to not stand with Malygos. He allied himself with Alexstrasza and the Wyrmrest Accord to help stop his former master.
At some point Kalec relocated to Azshara, fearing that the death of Malygos was a sign of weakness on the part of the blue dragonflight, and that Deathwing would send agents to assassinate the rest of the flight. This held true, as the black dragonflight invaded Azshara to hunt down Azuregos. Kalec can be found in Bilgewater Harbor, where he and Azuregos help low level Horde players to repel the invasion.
Meanwhile, the blue dragonflight struggled with the issue of appointing a new leader. Its members were torn between Kalecgos and Arygos, the two likeliest successors. Arygos believed that his kind should withdraw from the world and forge a new path while Kalecgos believed that they should play an active part in the world’s affairs. Ultimately, the flight agreed to meet at the Nexus during the astronomical event called the “Embrace”, where both of Azeroth’s moons come in perfect alignment, in the hopes that one of them would be selected as the new Aspect.
Arygos, who was secretly allied with Deathwing, attempted to have Kalecgos assassinated to ensure his own succession. However, his plan failed when Tarecgosa sacrificed herself to save Kalecgos, and he flees Coldarra, swearing that Neltharion will destroy them all. Kalecgos thus becomes the official successor to Malygos, as both the leader of the Blue Dragonflight and the Aspect of Magic.
Before taking up the throne of Aspect of the Blue Dragonflight:
Brothers, sisters. Arygos speaks of our troubled past. Indeed, we have suffered greatly. But I’d contend that we’re at least partly to blame for the scars we bear. Let’s turn from our old ways. Let’s not seek to extinguish magic from the world… …but to use responsibly for the benifit of Azeroth and all its inhabitants. It’s true that our choice here today will affect the destiny of our flight, and likely, the destiny of the world. May the Titans guide us. May we be inspired to choose with wisdom.
With the rise of Deathwing during the Cataclysm, Kalecgos the new Aspect of Magic aids his fellow Aspects and the mortal adventurers in the battle with the Black Aspect.
The Blue Drake mount has a chance to be in the Cache of the Ley-Guardian from The Oculus (Heroic) after queuing for a random heroic or the Satchel of Exotic Mysteries.
